Re: 5-htp

since im off paxil i can not take any supplement with tryptophan or 5htp.
It makes me go into kind of a seizure mode. I know a few others have had similar experiences. But i can say i know its bad after just one dose. So if you try it....go slowly and see how it feels.

About 4 monts ago, my naturopathic doc suggested to go very slowly on L-Tryptophan while slowly tapering off Effexor XR. Got to tell you folks that not even natural products will touch my brain for at least a full year after withdrawl.

All supplements need to be increased very GRADUAL as per this doc.

Re: 5-htp

I have. I take 25CR every morning and if I forget, I will get a BAD case of the zaps within 24 hours.

I took my last pill Wednesday morning and found out that afternoon I couldn't get a refill due to the shortage. My "dealer", Dr. ExpletiveDeleted, has yet to return a call from me or the pharmacy, therefore forcing me into cold turkey.

I panicked and started taking 100mg of 5-HTP in lieu of Paxil on Day 1 of my cold turkey.

Day 1 and 2 I felt perfectly fine. Yesterday I slept a lot during the day and had mild whooshes. Today (Day 4) I've been VERY whooshy and also took a long nap around mid-day. But, no zaps.... yet.

Re: 5-htp

After reading more about 5-HTP during Paxil withdrawal, I regret opening my uneducated mouth. Sounds like a VERY bad idea.

Please ignore my prior statement!

Re: 5-htp

I tried 5 htp during withdrawal, it made me feel worse! I won't touch the stuff even now that I've been off Paxil for 2 years. Magnesium and oils work best for me.
