Just wanted you to know...
That it does get better..I'm living proof. It's a long road and it's hard, but stick withi it, tell your self "it's just the drug, it will pass" and belive me it will!! Been reading some post tring to keep track of yea all, thought some of you could use a rah rah cheer! I'm still having hard days, but now there's more and more good days. Withdrawal induced anxiety is my difficulty, hits 7-10 days after a dose drop - I've learned to ride it out, even though it feels real, even though my mind is screamin - and guess what it passes. IT WILL FOR YOU TOO!!!
Take care all, I'm rooting for you (rah rah, hip hip!!!) |

Re: Just wanted you to know...
Thanks,
What do you mean by "long road", and are you working through withdrawal? Just wondering, the way I feel, and I'm not a baby, I can't even get through a interview, I feel terrible. I know I'm a lot better then last week, and I know it'll pass, but i need to function clearly in a working atmosphere. What do you think? |

I actually feel stabilized today for the first day in 2 weeks, so I will give it another few days, and go down to 2.5. In all honesty - I felt no withrdrawals from 25 (actually only 20mg of REGULAR paxil) to 10, so I went to 5 after only about a week or so on 10. I felt a HUGE difference there, but it was expected. Thanks for checking

Yes, still the symptoms are there. I've had overwhelming anxiety for the last 4 wks. But today it is better. I've been taking Xanax to get be through and now have started cutting back on that. I seem to be taking the classical road of recovery. I must say the first month paxil free was really hard. Then after that I seemed to make slow progress to being 'normal.' Then wham, the last month was so bad with anxiety. My Mom had to come and stay 4 days last week. She's gone now and I seem to be coping. Hopefully, now I'm back on track and the good days will start outweighing the bad. Thanks for asking.

Re: Just wanted you to know...
michelle the anxiety has been a biggy for me too it seemed to hit bad around the 5 mths mark and is still prominent now at almost 9 mths off ,although mine seems worse if iv encountered any foods or chemicals that dont agree with me,strange.

Re: Just wanted you to know...
Michelle and darlene,
I'm on 5 mg for the last two weeks. My withdrawal went like this; 15 mg regular dose to 12.5 mg onMarch 15, 10mg on April 4, 7.5 mg on April 20 (this was a hard one, got sick, loads of anxiety, stayed here for a while), May 26 to 5 mg. This was all preceded by another attempt prior to Christams 2004. Started tapering in September, got down to 5 mg by Christmas and then crippling anxiety - also had fatigue, heart palipaitations, increased blood pressure. Went back up to 15mg cause I just was not coping. I decided to pull out all of the stops for this latest attempt - I'm seeing a psychologist (relaxarion trechniques, couselling), I've been reading sevferal excellent anti anxiety books and I have ativan when the going gets really rough (used rarely, only twice since beginning this taper). I've had soem really tough battels with anxiety, but all of my "tools" that I've been learning throgh counselling and my books have been really helpful. The key for me has been having faith that if apply what I learned, I will get trhoguh it. Each time I get through it, it gives me a big confidence boost and makes the next anxiety attack that much easier to cope with. The book I found most helpful is "Hope and Help For you Nerves" by Clare Weeks. |

Re: Just wanted you to know...
TCL, great news! Withdrawal tends to lead one into finding coping skills to get through, and after withdrawal is over the original symptoms just don't carry the weight they use to. Glad to hear you are doing so well!

You will get there this time. Remember, you know it sometimes is scary but knowing that it is w/d helps get through each day. I put it down to that and not me. Blaming myself is useless. Blame the drug. Be gentle on yourself - that's working wonders for me at the moment. I treating myself like I'm ill from a sickness called GSK.
