Re: Paxil and pregnancy

I'm sorry, Di-Ann. My baby was, luckily, perfect. I think it helped that I nursed her while I was still on Paxil, so she was still getting some in her system. I had a high-risk pregnancy and had weekly testing done on fetal Kate after 26 weeks, so we were able to keep a close eye on her progress.

How old is your baby? My Kate is 16 months now and quite a handful!!!

Re: Paxil and pregnancy

Katesmom,
Your baby is beautiful! My son is now 7 years old,has had 11 surgeries and more to come. With all this recent info. on paxil(which i'm still on)and with all their recent findings on pregnancy and paxil I'm just wondering if this is the reason my son had so many problems. It seems to coincidental. Thanks for replying.

Re: Paxil and pregnancy

Hi Di-Ann -

I had my baby in December 2004 while on 10mg of Paxil. Luckily, he has had no health problems thusfar. I don't know if he went through withdrawal - we were both doped up for the first 2-3 days because I had a c-section (after 4 hours of pushing, the doctors finally figured out his head was too big!) and I breast-fed him even while on the painkillers. I had to stop breastfeeding 3 weeks after delivery because I kept getting infections - and I didn't notice any change in behavior once he began formula.

I'm sorry to hear about your son's medical problems. That's a lot for a little guy (and his mom) to go through. I hope it wasn't due to Paxil, but if you let us know more about his condition maybe someone can offer some insight.
