Regular Paxil IR Availability
This topic was under my last post, but I thought it important enough to separate out...
I take the "regular" Paxil - the immediate release, not CR. CR does not work for me, nor does the generic Paxil. I've been on the regular Paxil for 12 years - my body doesn't like change. GSK has not been manufacturing this regular Paxil for many months now. They will not say what the problem is. They have given many estimated dates for production to resume, but these dates have all gone by with no word except for a new date. My city finally ran out of it's supply a few weeks ago. When you call a pharmacy, they tell you it's on backorder, and suggest switching to another drug. I called GSK again this morning, only to be told they cannot answer questions about why manufacturing has stopped, and that they do not know when it will start again. I am contemplating calling the local media to try to get them to call and find out what's going on, since GSK isn't willing to talk to us regular folks. For those of you on CR, or on generic, you are lucky. It might be worth noting that in GSK's last financial report, income from 'regular' Paxil was down 44% which they attributed to the generic availablity. It makes one wonder if they're ever going to start production again, or stick to the fully-patented CR. God Bless....

Re: Regular Paxil IR Availability
I hate to say it, but they are going to do whatever benefits their collective pocketbook - the hell with thise they have turned into "users." I find it puzzling that paroxetine (the generic) does not work for you - the chemical makeup is the same without the patented name.

Re: Regular Paxil IR Availability
Jenn, you may have reached the point where paxil had pooped out on you and no "brand" was going to help. Sad, but true that paxil doesn't work forever. The active ingredient in the generic is exactly that same as the brand name. While some have had some minor problems with it, it "not working at all" is a bit disconcerting.
