Depressed

I am now approximately 2 months post. I am doing okay, not a lot of zaps,
the hot flashes are gone. My problem seems to be PMS. I get hormal, tearful, and just generally depressed about 3 days before my period and for a couple of days after I get it. I really feel like I hate my job, my husband is irritating me.....I go through these really weird emotions. I feel FLAT in personality and it really irritates me. Is this just me? is this part of the withdrawl? Am I normal??? Am I a freak??? HELP?

Re: Depressed

Depression is a common a withdrawal symptom of paxil. Exercise, read, do something you enjoy to bring yourself up. Hang in there, it could be just a temproary thing.

Re: Depressed

sounds like uh.....PMS.
annie.....female.....normal

welcome to PMS if you have never had it. There are things like black cohosh, angelica root or Don Quai, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc. that can help balance out women things. natural....i repeat....natural progesterone creams as opposed to synthetic hormones. PMS is often exacerbated after wd....but shouldnt be a HUGE issue.

before your period you can also try some deep meditation or deep breathing and relaxation. you need to relax prior to the period and let the excessive hormones rest, drop off....let the period come gently....and be done.

Consider yourself lucky. I now have PMS 2 weeks before and the week during. The week after is the only hope my family has...and that's just a "hope". My PMS got MUCH worse post-Paxil.

Re: Depressed

Sorry you're feeling so yucky. Those symptoms are exactly what got me ON Paxil in the first place. My challenge will be similar to yours - how to deal with the PMS without the Paxil. I have to say, Paxil really did help with the irritability and moodiness, however I got tired of feeling numb. There's lots of good info on the web about dealing with PMS - exercise, meditation, diet. Recently, a large study showed that calcium (1200 mg/day) helps reduce PMS symptoms. Vitamin B6 (50 mg/day) and evening primrose oil (500 mg three times a day) may help some women.

Also, try http://www.pms.org.uk - an informative, woman-centered website.

absolutely!!!

but remember please...if you take ANY calcium...you MUST take at least half that much magnesium so it absorbs. Calcium without Magnesium will cause pain.

Re: Depressed

I spelled hormonal wrong....God I am a mess. Actually tonight was better, home with the kiddies, had a nice dinner with the husband, went out for a walk with the kids. I find when I am at work all day staring at the computer my mind starts to go. I did not go on paxil for these symptoms I went on for anxiety. I haven't had any anxiety. I know I need to exercise more and saying I don't have the time is an excuse. I am following up with the doctor next week. Prior to going on paxil I did have an iron/ b12 deficiency and my thyroid was slightly out of wack. I do have a b12 shot monthly. It just seems that the ups and downs are way more than I have ever experienced. Hope it goes away I hate to admit it but I kind of feel bad for my husband.

Re: Depressed

These episodes come and go in withdrawal, the further along you get they will ease up until they disappear all together.

Take care.
