Not another antidepressant!

I saw something on my local news today that did concern me. Researchers are working on developing yet another head drug. This one claims that you will always be happy and never feel depressed. They say that they have isolated a gene in rats that is shown to show an absense of depression and sadness and apparently makes the rats happy. Don't ask me how they get all this from a bunch of rats because i don't know.

I am wondering that since this potential drug claims to enduce complete happiness and an absense of sadness if that means that you will not even feel sadness if a loved one passes away for example. I think it is horrible that they want to do away with human emotion. Without sadness, we are basically just robots running around with big smiles plastered on our faces 24/7. I am also concerned about how many people will find this drug intriguing as noone wants to be sad. Most people want to be happy and that's what this drug promises is complete happiness.

I wish that therapy was pushed as much as these drugs are. People might actually find contentment in their lives and accept that sad things do happen and that we can deal with it without another little miracle pill.

I wonder if this is the drug we were thinking is coming out from Wyeth?! You know, it's so important that rats are happy. Nothing worse than seeing an unhappy rat!

It very well might be. They didn't mention which big pharma company was working on it. I was hoping they would. Human emotion i would have to think is a little more complex than a rat, but then again i'm no GSK scientist...thank goodness.

Well, the ad I saw, said "even if you're on ADs and their not working, there's something else." Now, it never said what the "something else" was, but it directs you to a site that's sponsored by Wyeth. You can order a free DVD, which I did, so I'll be anxious to see that.

Serene blue skies with fluffy white clouds...maybe a bunny rabbit hopping casually by...(reminisent of the cute little bouncing zoloft serotonin balls) With the annoying man voice in the background...You too can be as happy and carefree as a rat...err i mean this bunny...by simply taking our brainwashing happy pill everyday for the rest of your life! It is safe and nonhabit forming...Be the bunny. Yes, just be the bunny.
