Not sure what to do??

I'm not sure what to do now that my Dr. want give me a perscription for 10 mg. Celexa. I guess I'll have to cut the 20 mgs. in half and the cut half in half. I don't know why a Dr. would lie like that and say that they don't make 10 mg. tablets. Do you think I should discuss it with her again when I go next month? By the way she said Celexa shouldn't be causeing a weight problem.

Re: Not sure what to do??

Yes, I would mention it to her at your next visit and say you have heard that there ARE 10mg tablets available and you need them to make your taper easier. If she still won't prescribe them, than you'll have to cut your 20's into fourths like you said but it will make it very hard to go any smaller than that. I'm not sure about the weight gain thing .. I know Paxil is definitely associated with weight gain and I believe all the SSRI's are and I'm surprised she doesn't know that but then again, I read on here over and over examples of how ignorant the doctors are.

Re: Not sure what to do??

sunnysideup, why don't you fax this page (http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/parox.htm), highlight the 10 mg availability under the chemical picture, and then ask the idiot why the rxlists say there are 10s but his/her stupid a@s says there's no such thing.

I am so sick of these ******* doctors I could scream.

Re: Not sure what to do??

When switching from Paxil to Celexa.....my appetite went WAY down. I do not eat nearly as much anymore and therefore that will help alot with the weight gain! All SSRI's pretty much have the same weight gain side effects but with the Celexa it helps having a smaller appetite!

Re: Not sure what to do??

Sunnysideup, I hope that your doctor will give you a prescription for the 10 mg. But if she doesn't, it is possible to cut pills into 1/8 slices. I am doing that now with Remeron 15 mg. which comes in pretty small pills. As you can see by my signature, I first tried to cut down to 3/4s of my dose but found it was too much of a drop. I bought a pill cutter from the pharmacy and am able to make fairly accurate 1/8 slices with it. Good Luck to you!

Re: Not sure what to do??

Its easy to know for sure. Call your pharmacy and ask them. If they carry it then call the desk at your docs and tell them you checked and they have it and give them the number to call it into. I guess your going to have to be proactive.
