Paxil related Edema and Menses issues?
Has anyone here experienced problems with Edema (swelling, particularly in legs/ankles) and or disruptions in their menstrual cycles, due to Paxil usage or "poop out"? And- what about during W/D?

Re: Paxil related Edema and Menses issues?
Oh yes - this crap is notorious for causing problems in "female areas". I had horrible trouble the entire time that I was on Paxil. I was actually schedule to have a complete hysterectomy last December and ended up backing out of it. I am soooooooo glad that I didn't go through with it. My periods used to last a whole week and were so painful that it made me cry most of the day. Now they only last 3 days and I hardly have any cramps at all. It will get better as you drop in dose - I promise.
I am currently battling with the water retention. I am about 40 pounds over weight but sometimes it feels like my skin is so tight that it is going to bust. I have been adding parsley and lemons to my diet as much as possible to see if they really work. Good luck and hang in there !

Re: Paxil related Edema and Menses issues?
The menstual issues--common. Edema, esp. if it is severe, is very concerning to me. If you have severe or noticable edema, you need to call a doctor. It is not something that I relate to SSRI w/d and it can be the sign of something very serious. If it is just water retention or if you normally have a problem with it in this way (if this is not a new issue for you), then cut out the salt, drink tons of water, and take your blood pressure a couple of times a day. If you are in fact having bp issues (which are common in w/d) that are serious, then you must contact your doctor.
