Please help! Genital pain

I made a thread about this and bumped it a couple times but didn't get an answer... I'm having an aching/stinging pain in my penis... Please tell me if this is normal! Please tell me if this could be Prozac withdrawal or if something's seriously wrong... I'm reeally panicking right now! Please advise!

Sorry, I'm just really really worried about this......

Well I'm sure I'm not qualified to advise on this, I am female but I will have a go. My gut reaction is that it will turn out to be nothing at all BUT if it was me, I would go and get this checked out by a doctor. If it's uncomfortable but not agonising you might go tomorrow but if it's very painful I would find myself an out-of-hours doctor now. That's what they are there for, incidents such as these.

In females I guess it might be a urinary infection etc (easily cleared up but very painful until sorted) and the more run down you are through anything, especially through something like withdrawal more things like this can crop up. But these sorts of problems are always better dealt with quickly.

However, I wouldn't try to diagnose yourself. I would advise you to get medical advice just to put your mind at rest. I bet they will have it sorted in no time.

Sorry I can't be more helpful. There aren't many men on the site, so I thought I would try to help a bit.

This isn't something we can "advise" about. If you're having pain there, it's something you need to go to your doctor about.

This isn't something anyone here can tell you about one way or the other.

Please summon up all your courage and go to your doc. Only docs should be investigating pain in 'that' area! Go as soon as you can - it's worth going out of hours, not only to get it investigated and hopefully on the way to being cured but also for your own peace of mind. All good wishes xxxxxxxx

Re: Please help! Genital pain

hello runtime89

i experience genital pain or ache from time to time since quitting paxil nearly a year ago. in fact, believe it or not i have felt this particular symptom quite pronounced in the past week or so. i have been suffering from a number of sexual problems since i stopped the medication and believe that this is all a part of that. the general consensus appears to be that it takes time for our neurotransmitters and hormones to return to normal and i very much hope that this theory is correct. it is evident in me that symptoms come and go. like i said i had this pain in my genitals and all around my groin for about a week but in the last couple of days it has settled down again. all of my other symptoms, sexual and otherwise seem to come and go in exactly the same way. for me at least, as i said before, i am convinced that it is all connected to my paxil withdrawal and i expect it is probably the same with you. i guess i am trying to reassure you that you are not the only one to have this symptom post ssri's. however, if the pain is severe and causing you much anxiety then, like the others that have posted here, it may be advisable that you see a doctor.

Re: Please help! Genital pain

I got this about 4 months after I cold turkeyed off paxil. I would have sharp shooting pains straight through my penis and zaps of pain in my inner thighs and balls...I can say balls, right? Anyway, I went to a urologist and he said I was fine. The pain slowly went away and was pretty much all gone from that area within a couple months. Now (at 1 year off) I get occasional zaps in my inner thigh still and some mild discomfort in my balls but we're talkin maybe 3 times a week for a couple minutes as opposed to several times a day for extended durations. It's probably the meds but if it hurts REALLY bad or is just too annoying for you then get checked out.
