Hey all I haven't posted here in awhile, as I was sorta trying to avoid thinking about paxil in general. But I'm finally about to start my taper from 10mg. I've been reinstated for about 3 months after a very rapid wean and for the most part am feeling better

I still have a little dizziness here and there, and generally have not felt quite as happy as I'm used to (even pre paxil). But thats about it really and I feel like I'm read to start.

So tomorrow I am switching to liquid and think I will stay with 5ml (10mg) for a few days to make sure I dont have some reaction to it and then start dropping down. Not sure if I wanna drop right to 9 or do something like 9.4.

Anyway any feedback or advice/cautions is welcomed

-also when i shake my stuff up its frothy as hell... is that normal.. i have the apotex brand

Heya Newb!! I was wondering how you were doing.

The liquid definitely gets frothy when you shake it. I found an oral syringe that came with a rubber cork/stopper thing that you put into the med bottle, then insert the syringe into the cork. Turn the bottle upside down and you can pull the right amount of liquid down into the syringe with no froth and no air bubbles!

The brand I have is called EZY Dose (I got it at Longs Drugs) but I'm sure there are others. It looks like this:

I did a quick google search and walmart.com does carry them:

Hey thanks alot. I'm going to have to check that out tonight, cuz I'm def getting some bubbles. I imagine that will be more of an issue once I get down to lower doses.

This is day 2 on the liquid and I feel the same as I have been feeling. I'll prolly stay on 10 for a few more days and then drop down to about 9.4 for about three weeks barring any serious withdraw

Dropped to 9.4mg today Hopefully all will go well. If I feel well on it I plan on staying for about 3 weeks before dropping to 8.8mg.

Thanks for the advice on the ez dose think carolyn. I got one but bubbles, at least small ones seem inevitable for me when I draw up the liquid. It just stays frothy no matter what. Although I think less so with the ez dose. When you look closesly do you still see some tiny bubbles or does it look solid to you?

I see really tiny bubbles (like, REALLY tiny, less than 1mm diameter). I think that's just how the liquid is.

Ok cool. yea I saw those and was still sorta obsessing about how much they might be affecting the total volume and such.

Yes even my pharamcists "own" liquid paxil has like microscopic bubbles too, but I figure they are so tiny no need to stress :-)

Good deal. What do you mean by your pharmacist's liquid paxil. Does he make it specially for you? Is there something different about it?

Yes it is made just for me. Here in Australia we cant get liquid paxil. Infact we only get paxil in 20mg tablets. I read in the archives of Cici in New Zealand who got her pharmacy to make her own liquid. I spoke to my GP and pharmacy and "Voila "as of a month ago I have liquid.

The pharmacist basically crushes 100mgs of tablets into a lemon flavoured suspension to give me 1mg per 1ml. Its quite a thick suspension that you have to shake real well and keep in the fridge.

It sure has made tapering at these lower doses more accurate than my cutting/shaving/weighing etc regime with the 20mg tablets.

Alright well its Day 11 on the 9.2 liquid and for the most part I've felt alright. A little tiredness here and there that seems out of place. Some dizziness spells that set in for less than an hour. And persistently, and sorry this is gross, but soft bowel movements, sometimes accompanied by diarrhea (prolly about once a week). Nothing too bad

The one symptom that does bother me however, is the random fits of agitation. Out of no where I will become very angry and irritable and take it out on whoever is around me which is usually my girlfriend, even though she had done nothing to warrant it. I feel bad an apologize afterwards but its basically impossible not to succumb to being an ******* to whoever is in my proximity.

On a positive not I played paintball this past weekend which really gets your adrenalin going and is overall pretty stressful mentally and physically and I felt great during and after. I have also begun working up to more intense and longer workouts without dizziness and such afterward which is great!

Haven't posted in a really long time here. But I was just updating to say that generally the taper has been going well. I am down to 5.6mg, and have been dropping by .8 mgs every three weeks up until my last drop.

I want to try now to start dropping by .4 every 17ish days. I've noticed that I feel a few days into the taper and right at the end. But when I drop I generally feel better for the first couple of days.

Anyone else experience this?

It feels like I'm actually staying on particular doses too long which is why I'm choosing to slightly lower the time between drops.

My most prevalent symptoms throughout the past few months have been anger issues, head swimminess/dizziness and occasional lethargy.

Currently I seem to have a sinus infection. Any reason I should be wary of taken a few days of antibiotics to clear this up?

Sounds like you're doing great! I think your timeline makes sense. 17 days should be fine.

Sorry to hear about the sinus infection, those are no fun at all. For antibiotics, I try to stick with the "cillin"s (penicillin, amoxicillin) and have had no problem with those.

I dropped in 14 days last time and it seemed a bit quick, some undirected anxiety and some depression, and a decreased stress response.
