is morning anxiety a constant during withdrawal?

Every morning during the last ten months of this withdrawal have seen me wake up either in physical pain, emotional pain or mental pain. Most recently, I seem to wake up with nausea every morning and it's really distressing. Is this common in withdrawal or am I just returning to horrible anxiety and doomed to feeling like this?

Re: is morning anxiety a constant during withdrawal?

I find the mornings very difficult. I cannot eat and washing my teeth is a torture. I gag all the way...

I think morning anxiety is normal. I surely hope it goes away with time.

Re: is morning anxiety a constant during withdrawal?

Hi Lee! I was going to write you because I have been thinking about you and wondering how you are doing. I have been having a rough time lately and I think to myself "How does Lee do this? He is Hercules!" Seriously though, you are my hero. To answer your question I think the morning anxiety is very common. They say it has to do with cortisol being highest in the morning and then it tapers off throughout the day. It sucks that some of us are just more sensitive to withdrawing from this poison than others. I am taking super small drops and it still sucks. We will get through this together. If you have the energy please drop me a line and let me know how you are doing. ((HUGS))

Re: is morning anxiety a constant during withdrawal?

I am just on a year since i stopped lexapro via a taper, and have been suffering severe nausea and vomiting most mornings along with all the stomach complaints.

Its horrible i know, i am so run down as i can barely get much food into me during the day...and often at night it eases up only to return the next morning with the anxiety etc

I am not sure if its withdrawal or anxiety, in all likelyhood its a bit of both!

I dont know what the solution is and i hope it goes away in time as well, but i do know how terrible it is to suffer

Re: is morning anxiety a constant during withdrawal?

If you have anxiety/depression, mornings are the worst for most people... whether you are in withdrawal or not. There have been many theories (cortisol being one), but no one really knows why.

Re: is morning anxiety a constant during withdrawal?

I also have anxiety in the morning. I usually have a bad dream and then wake sweating and feeling all anxious. I lay there, practice my deep breathing, and know that it goes away after I get up.

http://ndri.com/article/early_morning__anxiety-79.html

A fairly good article that explains the possible why. I am insulin resistant, trying to become insulin sensitive. So, this article makes sense to me. I also have very low cortisol levels. They do rise in the a.m. but I'm mostly living off of adrenaline.

Re: is morning anxiety a constant during withdrawal?

I just read (in a thyroid book) that it is important to have some protein 1st thing in the morning "especially if you wake up with morning anxiety". It also said, many people that wake up with anxiety feel they can't eat and have nausea but if you force yourself to have a small amount of protein for a few days, this will get better.
