Bouts of Insomnia, anyone?

Hey Everyone,

I was just wondering if any of you have found that your sleep patterns are effected while going off of paxil. I'm nearly off the junk but these last two weeks I've been waking early in the morning and am unable to get back to sleep. Of course, being an anxiety sufferer, once I wake up I get scared and say "What if I can't get back to sleep?, What if this means something else?", etc.

Anyway, any advice on this would really be appreciated. I hope everyone is doing well. I think that this site is a really great thing. If it was 50 years ago I'm sure we'd all feel a lot more alone (not that paxil was INVENTED yet, but you know what I mean).

Thanks for any responses.

Sincerely,

-Tony F.

insomnia

Insomnia is on the list of withdrawal symptoms. Valerian and melatonin are natural formulas used to help.

Put on Paxil in 1996 for Post-partum depression. After 5th withdrawal attempt, went into severe debilitating withdrawal, restarted Paxil in the ER which didn't work anymore. Taken off again quickly by a shrink, started on Lexapro. Body rejected all drugs except benzos. Currently off all drugs. I'd say I'm recovered. Yeah, I'd say so.

Insomnia was my worst symptom. I still get it occasionally but despite having a stressful job, probably manage an average of 7 hours a night now and can easily sleep very well at the weekend. I've been off for 1 1/3 years by the way, and in the beginning it was very bad indeed. By the way, I'm sure if I didnt have a stressful job I'd probably be completely fine...good luck!

I also suffered from bouts of insomnia during withdrawal. Maybe it was from fear of those crazy nightmares

After being off for over a year my sleep patterns are normal, no more insomnia

Yes - Those are some pretty freaky nightmares! I too could only sleep about a half an hour at time. I just could not stay asleep for the first 10 days or so. It goes away...
