Feeling manic after taking a nap

Felt pretty good but tired today after coming home from work. Took an afternoon nap (about an hour) and after getting up I'm all over the place. Can't sit still for a minute. Anyone else noticed something like this? It has definitely something to do with WD. Nothing to worry about though. I'm pretty sure that tomorrow morning I'll feel much better.

Re: Feeling manic after taking a nap

It's not necessarily anything to do with w/d. Many people feel "off" after taking a nap. I can't take them any more at all. I feel 100 times worse after I do and I've been off Paxil for over two years.

Re: Feeling manic after taking a nap

I know what you mean, Antti. After even trying to have a nap, I experience nasty akathisia and this 'off' feeling. Though I must say, in terms of its intensity, it's far less severe than in early WD.

My husband too, I tell him take a nap and these are the reasons he says he doesn't. I feel bad because he is tired, the brain needs sleep to heal, yet look what happens. Yikes dam if you do, dam if you don't!

Re: Feeling manic after taking a nap

Both my mental and physical symptoms would get so much worse when I'd doze off during the day or early evening, I would make special efforts to stay awake, much as I needed the sleep!

Re: Feeling manic after taking a nap

I have this also. I think its because when you take a nap;.you relax. And then the stress gets relieved. So what you are experiencing is stress and fear comming out. Often its a good thing (someone once told me)

Re: Feeling manic after taking a nap

funny you should mention this.

i had a busy day on saturday and did alot of walking - something i am not used to - i sit at a desk for 8 hours a day.

anyway i was exhausted and saturday night i went to bed at 10:30am and slept for almost 12 hours.

on Sunday i felt a bit off and 'weird' for a while during the day. i put it down to too much sleep.

Re: Feeling manic after taking a nap

LOL... I was going to post something about this one day too! That i always feel shakey and anxious and depressed after a nap. I've never been one to nap before meds, but even if I did I felt kind of off afterwards, but while in w/d it's yucky.

Re: Feeling manic after taking a nap

I thought I was the only one! I've never liked naps and now that I need them it is hard for me to even fall asleep even though I am exhausted. The dp/dr always seems to be even worse after sleeping in or taking a nap! I want my body to get the rest it needs to heal but it is hard to deal with feeling that way!

Re: Feeling manic after taking a nap

Funny, I JUST woke up from a nap, one that I NEVER take because I get these yucky feelings. I always feel really out of it and not well mentally when I wake up from a nap. Perhaps its a bit of both!
