No, no sleepy hands, but I've read that some do feel neuropathy in the hands. An SSRI withdrawal symptom involving my hands is the itchiness I feel all over when I am sitting or laying down.

More than likely, you just slept wrong. If you wake up with tingling, that's usually the cause. Now, tingling hands and feet during the day, has been listed as a w/d symptom but, I don't think you can call waking up with them a symptom.

I've been off of Paxil four years and have this on occasion. My husband's never been on an SSRI and complains about it all the time.

Re: Hands asleep

Hmm.. Now that I read this I am reminded that I did notice more of that symptom after the ads and the wd.. It's as if while in sleep, the body isn't aware enough to be rolling around to be letting blood to flow to my limbs, which should be happening normally. Dunno... I do know that this happens even to people without ssri history, but I can't tell whether I went through this MORE after the ssris.. But don't worry too much for now.. It may go away with time. Maybe has something to do with sleep and your brain not being able to sense signals well.

Re: Hands asleep

It does not have to, but it can be withdrawl related.

After my reaction my hands fell asleep very, very often and for quite some time, I always woke up with this typical tingling in my fingers, but it was much stronger than it normally had been and took much longer to resolve.
When I snipped at them they felt like a tuning fork. Very weird.

Re: Hands asleep

I have had numbness in my pinky and ring fingers since I started tapering. I can chart the change as my dose drops. While I was tapering quickly, those fingers on both hands would go numb if I put any pressure on my elbow or forearm. Just lying on the floor was enough to cause it. Once I was at 0mg/day, the sensitivity went away. Once I reinstated at 10mg/day, the sensitivity returned. As I stabilized at 10mg/day, the sensitivity diminished. Now that I've done another drop, the numbness is beginning to appear again. The severity of the symptom is also related to the amount of the taper. The returned numbness that I experience now is not as severe as it was when I was dropping quickly last fall. I associate the symptom with withdrawal and fluctuating dosages of Paxil.

Re: Hands asleep

Anna

Sometimes when our hands get numb it comes from our neck being out of place. Stiff neck is a w/d symptom. You could see a chiropractor.

When this happens to me I use massage and warm towels around my neck it helps some. Some light stretching usually helps.

Hope this goes away soon.

I have read this a lot. I am used to it happening to me but I have the same symptoms. I haven't had many physical symptoms but this is one of them. I lose circulation in my hands and feet easy now. I really have learned to just deal with it.
