Juice and Liquid SRRIs

I have been trying to find an answer to this all weekend, but to no avail! I am hoping someone here will know.

As stated on another post, I am now taking liquid generic lexapro. It is horrendous, and it tastes so bad it literally makes me gag and shake. I have been taking it with juice... one night with orange, and last night with cranberry. It still makes me shiver in disgust, but at least I can get it down!

However, I can not find anywhere if it is safe to mix with juice. I know that a lot of medications aren't, especially with acidic juices. I even called the pharmacy, and they kind of gave me a half-*** answer because they didn't really know either.

Anyone know if this is okay to do??? I know grapefruit is a no-no, but I'd like to keep taking it with cranberry if possible. It is really the only way I can get it down.

Thanks for any advice!

Re: Juice and Liquid SRRIs

Cranberry was always our liquid of choice for patients who had a hard time with liquid meds. Go for it!

Thanks, Scotty! I was hoping you would weigh in since you are a nurse!

Re: Juice and Liquid SRRIs

If there is a pharmacy not too far away that does pill compounding, I would recommend going that route.

I tried the liquid SSRI and hated it--too much of a hassle to get the dose exact, and it tasted awful & burned my tounge for hours.
