I wonder if I will ever be completely well
This chest pain is getting old. I've been having it off and on since about May 7th (3 days after my last dose of Paxil). All tests indicate its not my heart, but it really scares me. The pain starts on the left side of my chest, and shoots into my left arm. I get this tingling on the left side of my back that wraps around to the front and feels like a rubber band tightening. Sometimes it can last for days, and sometimes just a few hours here and there. It's not as frequent as it used to be. And I know it's not anxiety because my heart rate doesn't go up that much. It does feel better when I burp or when I take the supplements like I'm supposed to.
Sometimes I feel so discouraged and wonder if I have some kind of permanent neurological damage, or I wonder if they missed something on my heart scan. Anyone have this for a prolonged period of time?

Sounds a lot like IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). I dealt with that for months after paxil. I also had it when i was 21....18 years ago. I got over it then.....about 2 months after starting paxil i got my first attack of it in 15 years and have dealt with it for the past 3 years on and off...especially during withdrawal....at 8 months past paxil i was very very sick with it. Magnesium supplements and Probiotic fiber and vitamin C are probably your best bets. Fiber fiber fiber. its HUGE for healing that rapidly and you have to take it daily. and Magnesium has been just the most incredible supp for me in total healing. Also key to keeping the gut healthy! hope this helps you.... peace beverly |

Yes thanks. It reaffirms what I was already starting to realize with magnesium & vit C. Also I notice when I eat apples regularly that the pain gets better. I need more fiber!

Silence,
I agree with Beverly... And really all of us should be taking the Psyllium Fiber. It binds the toxins in your body and takes them out as it keeps you regular. One other thing. I'm not experiencing to much of the chest/heart pain as of late. Some I do believe is due to the Cal/mag Fizz, the other I definately believe I can contribut to co Q 10. A lot of drugs deplete this nutrient from the heart. And vitamin C is crucial to heart health, just read this info from Linnus Pauling (sp?) It is very, very interesting. I believe he won the nobel prize twice and he mentions that this regimine will CURE heart problems. So its worth a look even if you only fear you could have an issue with your heart. http://www.thecureforheartdisease.co...ing/video.html Darlene |

yeah i couldn't be more sick of worrying about my heart, its all i think of when iam having these attacks, two years ago I was junior Hockey, and training hard all year, now when ever i try and go for a light walk i worry my heart will explode..(and iam only 21!!!).but today i managed to do 25 wind sprints! (its not much i know, but guess what? I didn't die after, so that kinda made my day a little bit.
does anyone ever experiance like not pains in your heart, but almost like an increased awareness that you have one? (thats the best way i can describe it) I never even thought of my heart beat before, and now i feel it all the time, its driving me nutz |

These symptoms might also be related to digestion and not necesssarely to heart problems. If you a journal of what you eat (and drink), the supplements you take, what you did and how you feel each day, this may help you pinpoint what could be causing this. It might just be something that you eat or a combination of food. Problems can not always attributed to the last food that you eat, it may be something that you eat 4 days ago for instance. Increasing my fiber intake, reducing caffeine and taking probiotics supplements (acidophilus) has helped me. I also take a supplement of digestive enzyms (in powder) which also seem to help. I will see if it really does when I'll stop them. Good luck.

zantac
My doc told me to try zantac but I am so scared of meds after reacting to the antibioitc. Another doc had said to use prilosec but this new doc said my body is too sensitive and to try the zantac otc better.

Body rejected all drugs except benzos. Currently off all drugs. I'd say I'm recovered. Yeah, I'd say so.

Ha ha,
Actually, I didn't take the Zantac for the same reason you won't: scared to take any medications!!! I should have expanded on that in my last post. I had a chest pain (felt like gas but I wasn't sure) for like a week that wouldn't go away so my wife made me go in. They did an EKG and it was fine so I figured screw the medication. How are you feeling? I hope all is well. Judging by your posts I think the issue was the detoxes that sent your system into disarray. I think they can be quite hard on your body and can make you sensitive to anything, even certain foods. Anyhoo, you're through all that and I think things will slowly get better. Tom |

Actually I do take the Zantac and it helps. I've also taken juiced ginger root, and it worked too. And the magnesium and Vit C work wonders. But I just don't want to have to take the Zantac every day for months. I know its GI related and also had costochondritis. But when the chest starts hurting in that area, it's just so frightening, even if you have every reason to believe its not the heart.
Brett, others say here that it feels like the heart is going to jump out of the chest. That's a different issue, and I've had that happen several times also. Usually its just gallops for a little bit and then goes back to normal. But if the adrenaline is out of control and your system can't compensate, something like beta-blockers may help. Thank God I was able to control this with 5 HTP.

Hey all,
I think the arm and chest pain can definitely be paxil related. When I first started taking paxil, I had never taken any real medications. My mom was a health nut so we never even took aspirin as kids. When I started taking paxil, I would wake up in th morning and my chest would ached and the entire right side of my arm (and sometimes my face) would have this tingling numb sensation. I had anxiety for years before this and never felt this chest stuff before. Therefore, I don't really think it has anything to do with brain damage. I think part of it may be paxil in your bloodstream that your body isn't used to having there. I know even when I first started taking paxil I had a heightened awareness of my heartbeat. Insertion of stuff in one's bloodstream makes your heart rate heighten and causes muscles to react. I take vitamins and they help. But I really cannot emphasize enough to all of you to take a protein isolate. It has been the number one most helpful source in getting rid of all my symptoms. You can buy it at the healthfood store. It is protein in its purest form that you mix with milk and drink. Paxil toxins bind to the protein and get released from your system. It is marketed for bodybuilders. Please, everyone consider this. I'm only pushing it because it has made such a difference for me and I want to help you all feel better as fast as possible. You can get it as soy protein isolate or whey protein isolate. Try soy if you have dairy issues. Breeberoo |

I am positive its related to the Paxil and Paxil withdrawal. I never had any of this trouble before that.
Do you take the protein shake as a meal substitute?

SilenceforNow,
I take the protein shake as my breakfast and then take another with lunch and dinner. On good days, I will just have it for breakfast but on days that I feel more shaky or plan to do heavy exercise, I will take it three times for the next few days. Also, make sure you don't just buy a soy shake or whey shake. It has to state it is "protein isolate." Any reputable healthfoodstore will know the difference. Give it a few days to work and tell me how it goes. I'm positive you'll notice a difference in a week or so. Breeberoo |
