Day 7 Paxil free
I must say that this has been QUITE the week. I've been feeling the roller coaster effects of being paxil free and not liking it at all.
I almost came close to taking a pill last night. The thing is, my greatest difficulties is when I go to bed. That is when all the anxiety and worries and just downright dispair keep flaring up. To the point now that I hat the thought of going to bed. I don't want to. I just end up crying for half an hour. I'm wondering when this will stop as it upsets me even more. Is there anything NATURAL I can take to calm me down? The lack of, and fear of going to, sleep is putting a stress on me. *yawn!*

Paxil girl, sleep was the worst for Ryan. That's when the defenses we naturally have kind of fall apart. He would end up staying up all night and then sleeping in the day. His sleep is still screwed up, but not as bad as the initial month off paxil. It slowly got better!!

Laurie, thanks for that piece of information. A lot of my anxiety of this sleep business is because I tend to think of things that make me axious and sad during the night and try avoiding going to bed. I know I have to eventually, but I can't bring myself to do it.

Paxilgirl - it's definitely no fun when you're not able to sleep because of anxiety.
What I find helpful is sprinkling some lavender extract drops on a cloth near my bed pillow. Then try to relax by taking slow deep breaths. Another one is to take Rescue Remedy from Bach. You can find this in any good health food store. Valerian Root is good and numerous other products, all natural, to ease you into sleep. Hope it helps a little.

Paxilgirl,
It's commendable that you've been off 1 whole week, you knew about the withdrawal, and yet you HAVEN"T taken a pill! The next few months will just be an experiment in trying to manage the side effects. You've got some good testimonials here for some things that have worked for others. Imagine those who have no clue what is going on or what to do about it. The magnesium at bedtime definitely helps me. I also had to take Tylenonl PM sometimes.

You might try Gaba as well... It is a amino acid that induces relaxation...

PaxilGirly:
If it's makes you feel any better..... We are in the same boat right now..... It's rediculous.. I just took a pretty big drop in Effexor (Same as going from Paxil 25 to 12.5 abruptly) That was 3 days ago and I am getting waves of the most DREADFULL DOOM AND GLOOM. It's just impossible for anyone else to understand. The thing is.....I can TELL that it's drug induced........because no matter WHAT....I can't control it... It's so discusting to be here in my house with a happy family.........my wife sitting happily doing her nails.......My kids happily playing Ps2.... My little pomeranians just hangin out..... Everyone and everything is so perfect. And then here comes the waves of CRAP...... WE DO NOT DESERVE THIS..... But you know what......just like you.......I'm keeping a positive attitude. This will all be better soon. If it dosen't........you and me can hang out and drive each other nuts.... Ok?.....

I ran out of magnesium and i've noticed it's harder for me to sleep and I feel more anxious.. so maybe it does work.

Paxilgirl, it will get better I promise. I took my last paxhell last May. I am feeling really well now, but I remember back to the first few weeks after the last pill. Night time was like torture. I had to talk myself, most nights, out of having a panic attack. My first ever panic attack had happened at 2:30am, so every night I would go to bed and lie waiting for the terror to take hold. I can't remember how long it went on for, but I became determined to beat it and did. I would have a lovely long bubble bath and read a book for an hour or so just before going to bed. If the scary thoughts started I would switch on the tv or grab my book again and read until they went away. I would take a shower at the most ungodly hours of the night. I would go for a walk. Only up and down my little road, but that always seemed to calm me. I would sit on my back door step and look at the stars and the moon and realise what a tiny part of this large universe we all are. Sometimes that helped get things into perspective. But it does get better and you will get there. Sleep deprivation in itself is a terrible thing, so combine that with the hell of withdrawal, which of course causes the sleep problems, and it isn't easy. Give yourself a huge pat on the back for not taking that pill. I cannot tell you how many times I was tempted, but I never did, and the scary thing is, I still have a couple of packs of the sh-t in my cupboard. I will definitely get rid of them when I get home tonight. Keep going Paxilgirl, you are doing fantastic.
Love Sarah x |
