Defonz -- a question
I had even worse withdrawal from 3 months of Ambien than I did from Paxil. Anyway I noticed that we have many of the same lingering withdrawal side effects...I wondered if all of your side effects were from Paxil or the other stuff (a sleep aid?) that you mentioned you were on for 3 years?

hi Sage
I had major withdrawal for 6 weeks from paxil starting 1/15/03. I continued taking ativan on occasion....and 25 - 50 mgs trazodone at night to sleep. I took the traz until march, '04. In march...i went to my chiro who does TBM (energy field therapy) to purge paxil from my body because i was still reacting to it. I immediately went back into withdrawal complete with hallucinations. we notice that in the AM the hallucinations were worst. after about 2 weeks of this....either my hubby or I said...HEY!!! maybe its the trazodone. so we looked it up in the pdr and found out its an SSRI. my conclusion was that my body was told to purge SSRIs. i took the traz and the body would absorb it and immediatley purge it......and i would get sick. as soon as i stopped taking the traz i stopped hallucinating and started feeling better. The other thing that totally helped was magnesium. I think also that the Traz was increasing the Mg deficiency too. Now i am healing but a little slower than i might like. I have pain pretty much every day still....altho some days its very bearable. I still get really badly confused sometimes especially as i near my energy healing sessions. it seems to bring up emotional issues i need to deal with. I have one now that is giving me daily migraines in the AM and bad nausea. it relates to "beverly" at about 7 or 8 years old. I still have a bad twitch in my right arm. I still have akathesia altho not every day. I have major pain in my right side...in the liver. and i still deal daily to combat IBS brought on by paxil. and i still have these random SHARP pains all over my bloody body.....THAT makes me NUTS!!!!!!! I do not have my physical strength back because of the muscle nerve pain...i can only do so much physically. if i work out too much my muscles ache for a week. I mean....its only physical pain for the most part.....i can deal with that. but its been a long long time.....THAT gets to me. i feel like i have been sick for a long time. hope this helps, sage. I do think the traz was a major component in my recovery lasting so long. beverly |

I have been taking Neurotin for nerve pain for almost 2 months and during the past week have been really nauseated. I called my pharmacist to find out whether or not the Neurotin caused nausea and he said it most surely did and that I should stop taking it which I did three nights ago but I'm still really nauseated. Guess the combination withdrawing from the Lexapro and taking the Neurotin was a double whammy in regard to the nausea. Maybe the severe nausea I'm having now is due to the Lexapro withdrawel or maybe from the Neurotin too. Who knows? I have pain in my liver too but have never gone to my doctor or had any tests done to see what's causing it. You are certainly having a lot more problems that I am. What kind of medication were/are you taking for nerve pain? Also what caused your muscle and nerve pain. Don't mean to be nosey but I'm just curious. I hope you'll feel better real soon. Tonya |

hi Tonya.
nerve pain started nov 20, 2003 after a bad..and LAST...shrink appointment where she told me i was NOW schitzophrenic (after 2 years of being "barely depressed" and "minor anxiety" *then why am i on paxil?*) pain set in that night. Dec. 15th i think...GP did a "trigger point injection" of saline into the muscle to release it and my right hand went numb immediately in the office and severe pain now. Dec 18 she prescribed xrays and neurontin. Xrays normal except for severe misplacement of my C5, C6 due to X-husband violence but this causes no pain for over 15 years. SHE says that THIS Is the cause of the numbness....that i would need neurosurgery...but will not refer me to a neurologist. (Beeyatch) finally got referral....neurologist finds NOTHING wrong....except that my hand is numb. she orders about $5000 in more tests. Husband researches neurontin side effects and we decide no way will i eat that. He leaves for the holidays to see his mom. i am too sick to go. i was suicidal and aloneand inway too much pain over the whole holiday week last year. bad bad time. Dec 31 hubby comes home and we go to my new chiro who does TBM (energy field therapy) adn he finds a severe magnesium deficiency, PTSD, issues with mom, dad, X husband are primary and paxil withdrawal. starts me on Mg and within 24 hours i am feeling a little relief. the following weeks we do Accupower TBM treatment on mom and dad....broken heart and anger.....hand starts coming back. following week we do TBM on Ex. Numbness gone. 11 days on Mg i reach tolerance and things are quite a bit better. Pain continues to be severe in the backs of arms and upper back...chest, hands, arms primarily...feet too sometimes until about May when i started doing NMT (Neuromodulation Technique) One treatment and pain was significantly better....no longer constant. I continue to do NMT and on rare occasion i take ibuprophen. i take no drugs. i try to clear the pain with energy field techniques and visualization and color transfer. i try to find the emotional connection to it and release it. i DO find nearly always there is an emotional connection and that will help me to get rid of the pain. I think that pain may be due to the system being toxic. it seems to flare at times and be worse when i feel like i am detoxing. liver functions tests have all shown normal. |

Beverly -- are nerve pain and askathesia (sp?) the same thing or related? If not, what is your definition of askathesia? What causes nerve pain, are they injured, dead, misfiring?
I have read that the body completely regenerates itself after 7 years..I hope I don't have to wait that long to feel better..I have a lot of what feels like internal itching. Today my skin was burning. I have external itching too but my naturopath says that this is a good sign b/c the serzone is leaving my body..as it goes through the pores, it can create an irritation. I have non-colored bumps on my back and itch like mad! Ughh the horror of withdrawal and I'm only 5 weeks into it...I bet I have at least 3 more months of recovery...and this was only 100mg of Serzone for 10 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Sage!!!!!
im sitting here reading and saying YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH!!!!!! little colorless bumps on my back that itch like HELL!!!!!! oh my god!!!!!! not always but the little bastards are the WORST!!!!!!! oh my goodness i have been dealing with that this week in such a horrible way!!! and on my arms a little...but more on my back. and this week around my liver. so maybe that is a great sign for me!!! the akathesia is the internal shaking. i still shake some days. i think what i know about the skin is that...well its like the largest "organ" in the body and helps in a HUGE way with detox. so it tends to pick up the steam for the liver which is struggling. The lungs also help detox and the large intestine. At least that is the explanation ive gotten from my naturopath on it all. and yes...the skin is irritated from the detox. I try to do epsom salt baths every few days. i get a head ache so i kind of hate it...but it helps. the magnesium helps keep the colon doin' its thing too so that helps. and the nerve pain...i think misfiring....my neurologist never found a single thing wrong with me...except that my hand was numb. but she even handed me the big Book of neurological pathways....this nerve effects this area...that nerve effects this area.....and asked me....which one is making your hand numb? None corresponded to my numbness or pain. THE ONLY thing that made sense to where my pain and numbness was, was energy meridians. lung and heart. grief and saddness. and doing 2 tapping and kind of "think therapy" sessions....the numbness went away. The book to read on it is Freedom From Fear Forever By *somebody* Durlacher. its on "Acupower" technique. |

Beverly -- that's a great sign -- first time you had the bumps? My natural doctor says that it takes 6 months to a year for these drugs to get totally out of the system -- it's hard to get them out of the tissues. Anyway, I'm sure it takes less for some and longer than others...so if this is your first experience with the no color itchy bumpies, this could be a really good healing sign!

ive had them before but never as intense as this past week. I have been pretty sick for the past week i think due to some new stuff we worked on last monday. I was breaking out in hives all over for several days. my skin was going nuts!
