Re: New here-Old problem :( help pls

By the way, A friend gave me a copy of Dr. Clair weeks "peace from nervous suffering" Many years ago and I found it today. Before I found it I went on E-bay to see if they had it and it was selling from $70.00 to $300!!! This Dr must know of what she speaks. I have to say almost half way in to the book- If I didn't know any better I would say this book is about me!! It's a great book and I recommend it highly.

It's not getting any better matter of fact it's getting worse. I have had this for 20 years and this past 9 months have by far been the worst. The worst has happened since the paxil stopped working. yet going back on it was probably the worst thing I did.

Re: New here-Old problem :( help pls

HI justme39!
First of all: if a ssri stops working, it will never work again, period! You can call it poopout, tachyphilaxis, whatever you want. So the right thing to do is to find other drug with the same terapeutic indications of paxil, but from other class. In my case itwas Effexor an snri, but it could be a TCA, a TeCA, or a MAOI,
You could also try Buspirone. It's main indication is GAD and is a mild AD, and is also well tolerated.
I know exactly how you feel. Seemy story.
All the luck for you.

Re: New here-Old problem :( help pls

I think for the long-term, you should seriously look at your diet and consider making big changes if you want to permanently and completely get rid of the anxiety. The current diet book I'm reading is Primal Body, Primal Mind, by Nora Gedgaudas. She is adamant that the rampant anxiety disorders in our society are caused by our diet that is full of sugar, gluten, and other toxins. Since going on the GAPS diet (a special primal diet) a year ago, my anxiety has lessened quite a bit, and I'm now finding even more relief from eliminating fructose and excess protein from my diet. Unfortunately, dietary changes are difficult and take time, and can create more stress in the short term during the transition. However, I believe strongly that diet is the cause of many of our disorders, and returning to the natural diet of our hunter-gatherer ancestors is the cure.

For the short-term, if drugs are not working for you, then behavioral practices seem like a good option. Try something new, maybe meditation or exercise.
