My miraculous PSSD progress and challenges

Want to lay out for those who want a story to compare to that is becoming a success story.

I went from:

-Full genital anesthesia
-0 libido
-Watery Sperm
-0 erections naturally (visual stimulation)
-0 feelings of romance or attraction
-Full ED

to

NOW:

-Sometimes very HIGH libido
-Better sensitivity (but still lagging)
-Visual stimulation and erections have returned although erections are still weak
-Romance is VERY much back
-ED is significantly better

I CT'ed lexapro i march 2010 things progressively got worse until January 2011 until they started improving in March/April 2010

I now have the on and off windows people talk about, good days and bad. But I am having intimate relations now and sex, and after visiting the YAHOO PSSD forums and youtube vids I as all consumed that I would be one of the WORST victims that had to inject to get an erection etc et...

Anyway it is increasingly clear that this is not the case and that time is correcting things. My only frustration now is that I wish It would heal much faster.

Anyway the brain is a crazy complex organ. So interesting that it got so bad but then over time can get better. Totally wild....

It is an amazing organ(ah, get it!, LOL ) our brain. We know SO little about it that we can never assume that what going wrong today will be there tomorrow. I've seen SO many patients that they said would never recover after traumatic injuries, and they do. It truly is amazing.

Re: My miraculous PSSD progress and challenges

It is SO reassuring to read a post like this. I am in my 3rd attempt to get off Paxil/ Seroxat. Last time I suffered v bad akathisia, went back on meds (which ended the akathisia) but my libido never recovered. I am hoping it is simply down to low dopamine (I had akathisia and there is a history of parkinsons in family).

I have been on 2.5mg for a month now. Since gradually dropping from 5mg to 2.5mg my sex drive has got much LOWER- lowest it has ever been in my life. I cannot get an erection without visual and manual stimulation (and even then it is v weak). Here in the UK my Doctor told me "oh, you'll notice that as you reduce your dose your sex drive will increase"...well, sorry doc but the opposite has happened: the less Paxil I take the LOWER my sex drive becomes (what there was/ is of it). I am eating and taking everything I can to boost my dopamine. Yesterday I bought some Soya Lecithin granules. I also take 25mg of Zinc and 25mg of B6 per day (any more and I can't sleep), plus vitamin C. Today I am going to buy some Ginkgo or acetyl l carnitine. I am scared to come off paxil completely as last time the akathisia was literally unbearable.

ANY advice/ details of what worked and didn't work for you/ tips etc would be very, very gratefully received. Glad it's working out for you.

Re: My miraculous PSSD progress and challenges

that's good to hear brunyan. I never had a sexual dysfunction as severe as you have suffered until few days ago when I took just one pill after being suicidal. I am not in a relationship at all. anyway, It is very disappointing to urinate with all the urine almost falling on my feet because my penis doesn't erect. It doesn't erect as it used to do and when it erects, it is not even 30% of what it used to be. but anyway, I am sure it will be back, based on my experience with withdrawal.

And then of course. Things dip down again. Total mystery as to why! But the next window will come back around I am sure of that.

It is very strange, the window things. Its on for a month, then off, then STRONGER on for a month, then a little worse the next month, then even STRONGER.

So strange!

Re: My miraculous PSSD progress and challenges

Hey bencould you define genital anestesia for me? I made a post about it. I am mostly wondering if it is actual numbness like if you were to inject yourself with novacane. Or is it just another term to describe sexual anhedonia or loss of pleasure. If you have full genital anestesia can you not feel pain or change in temperature down there? I've noticed decreased pleasure during sex and ejaculation but, I can still feel friction, pain, cold or hot. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I had horrible restless leg syndrome the worst when I was on my normal dose of Paxil. It seems to have decreased as I lowered my dose. As for the libido, I noticed the same thing as you. The more I lowered the Paxil, the worst my sex drive and sensation was. Most people write that being on Paxil affected their libido. I had no problems on my full 20 mg of Paxil and my libido. I noticed lack of sensation and feeling the more I decreased my Paxil. It is so sad and depressing that we have to be slaves to this medication. I am seriously thinking of increasing my dosage my 2.5 milligrams tonight to see if my sensation down there increases. What is your reason for stopping the meds? I have tried so long to get off them but have noticed unwanted personality changes and lack of sexual sensation so I am really considering accepting the fact I have to be on these drugs the rest of my life. Have you noticed any personality changes?

Are you still using Cialis to achieve erections or do they happen naturally now?
