Yeah, I have to disagree with this also. I know of MANY cases of violence with ssri use in those with no violent tendencies before ssri's and none after coming off them. Remember, suicide is violence and if a drug can cause one to commit suicide, then it's not hard to imagine violence against others.

there wasnt much murders in the 1970's and 80s like there is now. i wonder why.
This just made me remember something-Tyler Brehm. This was a humanitarian guy who was going through a break up with gf. He suddenly, after taking "pills" from a pharma friend, went on a shooting spree in LA.

Yeah it happens often these days. These prescription mind altering drugs are 1000X more dangerous that street drugs. I talked to a woman on the net a few years ago who her sister killed herself after taking a drug called elavil. Her sister told me she left a suicide note and couldn't understand why she killed herself. she said she felt lost after taking that drug. It took her 20 years to know the truth. Now she knows and fights with others to ban these drugs.

Our society is falling due to prescription drugs.

I worded that poorly. It's a confusing issue. There are cases of peaceful people acting violently after taking or stopping antidepressants. I experienced withdrawal rage and had to bite my tongue or consciously walk away from several situations. It's not as simple as saying that these drugs cause violence, though. Just as the companies' blanket assertion that they don't cause violence is too simplistic, making a single assertion that these drugs cause violence is likewise simplistic.

So the bad personality changes caused by the drugs eventually went away?

Re: antidepressants and violence

With the advent of yet another attempted mass murder today I thought I would do a little research. It seems that although serial killers have been around for a very long time, mass murderers are relatively rare until around the 1990's ........

We just had a shooting here in Texas near a university and the guy is thought to have been on meds but they will always just blame it on "mental illness". Nevermind the drugs, those are safe and effective they say.

I brought up this point earlier; mainly, that the mass shootings are rampent in the last years. What a mess

Re: antidepressants and violence

This happened to my dad who was a nice sweet kind gentle funny individual. He was on Prozac for many years and it finally pooped out. The doctor tried increasing the dose and my dad said it made him feel like killing himself or someone else (which if he would have acted on it would have been my mom). Totally out of character...
