Personality Permanently Changed after SSRI?

Has anyone ever encountered a situation where a loved ones personality/feelings remain permanantly altered(does not return to how it was prior to the SSRI) after they get off an SSRI?

I have not encountered this situation with anyone....I am just wondering.

I don't think I've ever seen a case where the personality was permanently changed.

But it's important to realize that the healing process doesn't end with the last dose. The brain needs to heal from the changes the med made in it.

I'm sure in a while you'll hear from many people whose loved ones (or themselves) have healed and gotten their real personalities back. So keep checking back here.

I was on Prozac for a few years as a teenager, and my personality came back. It's important to realize though that people change over their whole lives. Everyone's personality changes subtly over the years, whether they're on SSRIs or not. I've never heard of the changes being permanent, but it may take months or years for the changes made by the SSRI to reverse.

I was so happy and grateful to get the "real me" back that, if anything, I became more kind and loving afterwards.

Raising my hand here. Six years out and I don't even recognize him anymore. Now he is a selfish shell of a hermit like man who avoids conflicts as all cost. He basically committed soul suicide w Zoloft. He has been off them for 6 years.
