question about magnesium for Bev and or Scott......

I am taking 2 Slow-Mag tablets a day...is this the same thing as regular magnesium and is it even enough? Says 64 mgs per table and says to take 2 a day...I read in another post something about 4 times that much a day...HELP?

also...Ok I've tried all the different kinds of fish oil and I don't burp much (like eating and drinking and stuff) but when I take ANY kind of fish oil..(even the coated ones) that's all I do and all I taste is fish! ....what else can I take that would benefit in kind of the same way with out burping. Why is it I wouldn't be digesting those capsules and yet don't have a burping problem with food or any other kind of supplement???

I know I felt a whole lot better taking it but can't handle the taste of fish for hours!

Re: question about magnesium for Bev and or Scott......

Hi brdgrl!
you might try eggs with Omega 3 or from chickens fed flax seed. eat a couple a day. You might try flax seed oil. I cant tolerate it but you might be ok with it. its another form of omega 3 with additional omega 6 and 9 too.

My opinion....you dont take anywhere near enough magnesium. Right now im taking 920 mgs at least....im not sure what i take in trace amounts with the aminos, or my greens. But i take 4- 200 mg pills. One at lunch, 2 at dinner, 1 at night. magnesium glycinate. Then i take 2 pack of Emer'gen-C which has 60 mgs each.
If I eat ANY dairy at all it has me upping the dose by like 200 mgs. Even if you get a form like mag oxide...you need to get it up to where you get the runs....and then back off a little. That will establish how much you need to take. Its important to figure it out that way. my hubby was taking 400 mgs. the doc said take 600. He was afraid he would have the runs....no such luck!
So now he is up to 600 mgs and doing great on it!

Brdgrl....my thought about you yesterday regarding the ragethon...."That girl needs more magnesium". WAY MORE! Try it....give yourself 2 weeks to try it. see how you feel after that time period....and i swear you will be hooked! (oh maybe that's a bad word)

Re: question about magnesium for Bev and or Scott......

I have been taking 100mg Magnesium 3 times a day which has helped me tremendously. I was told today by my naturepath that I can take up to 8 capsules a day but that when I have reached my natural limit it will cause me to suffer from the 'runs' at that stage you reduce the dosage until your motions are soft but firm.

Re: question about magnesium for Bev and or Scott......

OK...i just read about slo-mag. Its got calcium. How much calcium does it have??
like 100 mgs or 120 mgs per dose?? Because that means its using up its magnesium just to absorb the calcium. You need another 500 - 800 mgs daily to support the chronic illness and stress to your body.
over 300 bodily functions need that magnesium. not having it just causes more stress on the body.

Re: question about magnesium for Bev and or Scott......

so should I just ditch the slow mag and go for regular magnesium??? I don't know why we even went with the slow mag in the first place...for one thing it costs way more than magnesium!

so then if that doesn't work then try the flax seed?

ok here is the back of the bottle...

calcium = 212 mgs
magnesium = 128 mgs
chloride = 373 mgs

so on the front it says....64 mgs of Elemental magnesium...is the rest non elemental and what the heck does that even mean??

Re: question about magnesium for Bev and or Scott......

The flax seed oil is to replace the fishy burpy fish oil
The reason is the omega 3 fatty acids....brain food.

And the ingredients on the slo-mag...about 2:1....as the Cal/Mag ratio. That means the Calcium is using the magnesium for absorption. If the slo-mag is expensive....my vote is Ditch it!! Here is the link we order from. We have been recently buying a dozen at a time to get the discount and in case CODEX goes into effect in June and we have a hard time buying it. This is the best price we have found for it.

http://vitanetonline.com/description...Glycinate-400/

I was even told when i first was told i had a mag deficiency to drop ALL calcium, dairy, shellfish etc for 1 month while i started on the Mag to get full benefit of it.
darn calcium uses it all up!!!

Re: question about magnesium for Bev and or Scott......

well other than calcium I get in my vitamins I don't do dairy! I might take a McD's shake once in awhile but I can't tolerate milk.

so I'll just try regular magnesium and see what that does for me! Thanks bunches for your insight and help! Very much appreciated. I know life and living has to be better than this!
