Eight Months

I don't know whats going on with me, but since I've come off of Paxil eight months ago, I am no longer myself. I am way past the cold turkey shivers, flu like symptoms, now my personality and health is being challenged.

I suffer with severe mood swings, irritability, chronic fatigue and I feel suicidal daily.

I'm going to a new Psychiatrist this coming monday, but im also going to a rheumatologist the following Monday because I seriously feel that Paxil damaged something. It could be my central nervous system or it could be my thyroid but I feel similar to those who suffer with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

I feel like im slowly deteriorating. I had mood swings before I started Celexa or Paxil, but now its very bad that I feel severely angry all the time. I have episodes of rage. I am not doing well at all.

Re: Eight Months

Kris, this is very normal in paxil withdrawal. The 7-8-9 month mark somehow are the worst. The irritability, anger etc... is all part of withdrawal. This is also the point that most psychiatrists will tell you "see you need to take something because you are still feeling bad!". Don't fall for that!! Ryan was still a mess at 8 months and now at 11 months off he's doing great! Patience will get you through this. Know that this is absolutely withdrawal. One year seems to be the benchmark for paxil withdrawal, you have a ways to go yet!

Re: Eight Months

thank you scotty. I can't believe I was only on paxil for about five or six months and this stuff is taking this long? I wonder if Celexa has the same withdrawal effects. I was on Celexa for a year and a half then was switched to Paxil.

Right now everything everyone does gets on my nerves. I feel like I could sock someone's lights out.

I've started taking vitamin supplements and drinking herbal teas. I also have to take a valium to calm me down sometimes. My can't stop thinking and most of my thoughts are of hurtful stuff that's happened to me in the past.

I was like this before I ever even started taking antidepressants, but the antidepressants did nothing for the depression, the only thing it helped with was insomnia and mood swings.

I've always been a little pissy about stuff. Its to be expected with what I've been through, but lately its like old ghost are coming back to haunt me, and im still grieving from those things.

Re: Eight Months

Kritikris Sorry to hear about your predicament, but...... its also such a relief, i thought i had totally lost the plot this week ! ive been off nine mths and have had pretty much ther same stuff. You ve saved my mind!

Get Dr Anne Blake Tracy's CD hear what this stuff can do! She says we can get better! but time is the key!

Know the ghosts are there but dont act. Also Dr T points out the blood suger thing much of the pain and confusion is because it makes us hypo glycemic. (low blood sugar). So Dont what ever you do go hungry. Eat till you are full every couple of hours.

Re: Eight Months

Kris, this is very normal. Just hang on. I remember my 8th month passing with much of a send off. It has a real turning point for me as far as mood swings went. I too have suffered tremendously with inflammatory type inflictions. I had fibromyalgia for a while and costochondritis. I've always been sort of arthritic anyway. Some of the things you can do is educate yourself about inflammation. Got a book at my library called inflammation nation. Also taking Siberian ginseng helped my inflammation a lot! I took it for 2 months and felt a huge difference in pain and overall well being. Are you taking any other supplements or natural supplements to help you?
