Re: The Miracle Of Magnesium

I have recently switched from magnesium citrate to magnesium orotate. I've just been reading up on the web about orotates and they sound interesting. Has anyone else here tried magnesium orotate, and if so, what was your experience with it?

Explains why MSG can bring on anxiety in many people then. I always wondered why.

To back this up, I recently tried some chelated Magnesium (unspecified) as they had run out of Citrate, and felt quite depressed afterwards. At the time I didn't understand why. After looking on that George Eby site today I now understand why. Gonna throw the bottle out now!

Just in case anyone cares, I found the old Magnesium page (mentioned back on the first few pages of this thread) in the Internet Archive.

hello to all ,any news regarding magnesium and anxiety?, anyone?
My experience with magnesium has been beneficial. I noticed that it helped to stop my heart palpitations and back and leg cramps (over time). Using it exclusively for anxiety has not helped. It is one of many things I have used and continue to use in my healing protocol. Taking magnesium orally is a double edge sword (if your levels are low). It is water soluble and just passes through your gut without being absorbed.

If your magnesium levels are low, the best way to raise your magnesium levels is through the skin for about three months (foot soaks, massaging into feet, hands, etc.). After this, oral magnesium can be more readily absorbed either with supplementation or food (leafy greens).

All has given me much relief, over time.

Re: The Miracle Of Magnesium

This article hints that Magnesium could even help with androgen's and free testosterone.

http://www.ergo-log.com/magnesiumtest.html

I have also read it can stimulate the production of Dopamine.

So maybe, for us PSSD sufferers it can help in our recovery.

Re: The Miracle Of Magnesium

Hello Brunyan,

Great that the magnesium is helping you.

If I may ask some questions?

1. How long have you been taking it
2. How often do you take it?
3. How much do you take?
4. How much do you weigh?

I ask the last question because I think that, with all supplements, size to quantity ratio has a factor into how much to take for benefits to occur.

Thanks,
IG

Re: The Miracle Of Magnesium

Hello everyone,
I have been off paxil for a month after only a 3 month treatment, which I voluntarily quit. I was recommended taking magnesium and I have been taking 400 mg daily for a few months already. My main issue is that I've been getting palpitations, but they haven't improved. Tests only show I have an extra beat brought by the palpitations but it's nothing to worry about according to the doctor. I was just wondering if there is a type of magnesium supplement I should take, like a certain brand or any recommendations? Thanks

Re: The Miracle Of Magnesium

The best way to boost magnesium levels is either transdermally or intravenously. Upon researching magnesium I came across an article that stated that if you're magnesium deficient it is hard to absorb it through the gut because the gut needs magnesium to absorb magnesium. The article also stated that the safest and least painful way to boost magnesium levels initially is through the skin (transdermally). Swanson sells a product called Magnesium Oil that you can add to your bath or foot soak. The article also mentioned that it takes about three months to raise magnesium levels through soaking your feet in a dilute mixture of magnesium oil and water for twenty minutes each day.

I found that using a natural Progesterone cream also helped with heart palpitations. My estrogen to progesterone ratio was way off.

Hope this helps. You can also check your magnesium levels ( and other minerals and heavy metals) through hair analysis to see what other deficiencies or overages you may have.

Prob just a coincidence; I take 750 mg magnesium nightly before sleep time, sometimes I wake up in the wee hours and take it because I forgot, and it doesn't interfere with my sleep or cause insomnia.

Magnesium glycinate keeps me awake. When I take it, my thoat closes every time I fall asleep, which wakes me up.
