Good News - Finally losing weight!

Almost 4 months off paxil and not losing anything for the first 3 1/2 months, I'm finally losing weight! In the last 3 weeks I have lost over 7 pounds. I kick started it by going to weight watchers. I have to say, I'm not sticking to the diet religiously but am losing weight easily. Much, much easier than when I was on paxil.

Just thought I give all of you out there hope if you are stressing about your weight. I just hope it keeps coming off!

Re: Good News - Finally losing weight!

That's good news. I'm about a month behind you as far as being Paxil-free. I did lose about 7 pounds at first, then it came back, now it's not moving...well, it jiggles.
Hopefully it's about to start melting away.
I'd really like to remove my pants and NOT have a red ring where the waistband cuts into my belly.
Life is grand.

Oh, and the best part I'm starting to feel better about myself - after all this suffering I've been through with withdrawal I'm seeing some pay back visually (on the scales and in the mirror). Something to be measured!

Uh, buy bigger pants? Or borrow mine. Guaranteed not to bind.

Re: Good News - Finally losing weight!

Thanks for sharing. I have been off almost 3 weeks - after 5 1/2 yrs on. And I can tell you for the first time since being on the med I can actually stick to some semblance of a good eating plan. I started med 5 1 /2 yrs ago - got pregnant 1x gained 65 lbs, lost only 40 of them, got pregnant again 2 yrs later and gained 35 lbs, and only lost 25 so I'm up 30 lbs since day 1 of med. Yes some of it was pregnancies but I know myself - I've always been a super exercise freak and even neurotic with my eating (long period of bulimia during & after college binge purge, a period of anorexia etc. etc. etc.) - if there was one thing I knew it was how to stay between a size 6 & 8 no matter what it took. After Paxil it just would not budge.

Thankfully 3 weeks off & I've been sticking to a very low carbohydrate diet (easily) I might add and I've reduced tons of inches & at least 4 or 5 lbs - not a lot I know but hey I'll take it b/c I couldn't lose a pound while on the med. Also, you should know that while on Paxil or any SSRI low carb diets CANNOT work. Metabolically the ssri's change our bodies (don't ask how I'm no doctor) and does not allow us to lose body fat. So even though mentally I'm a mess at least I'm starting to look like myself again - or at least close. Can't wait till I feel like myself but again I'll take what I can get.

God bless all of you!
