Re: Adverse Drug Reaction Reporting- U.S. and UK
I wrote in my journal that today is better, the truth is the after going to the bathroom again I think the only better part is my determination. I did the fda reporting the night before last and have received my notification that it has been recorded. The thing is, it is worse.

Ginger, over time things will ease up. You will start to have some good days, try and keep positive, have faith in yourself... you will get through this process!

Don't try to rush it, try and eat healthy, rest when you can, resting is healing. Most important, have faith in yourself.
There was a time when I thought my daughter would never make it through this process. I was beginning to question if I was doing the right thing in stopping the meds. We were both frightened and thought maybe this was as good as it got. We were wrong, my daughter is healthy and thriving... it does get better.

Re: Adverse Drug Reaction Reporting- U.S. and UK
Rita, I will read and reread you message everytime I need to remember it does get better. I went cold turkey 13 days ago from a 40 mg dose. It was only after finding this sight 9 days into withdrawal that I found any hope. Thanks for your advise.

Ginger cold turkey is a tough one. You could always go back on half the dose and wean properly. It would make the symptoms less severe if they get to much for you.
Take care!

Re: Adverse Drug Reaction Reporting- U.S. and UK
I called GSK when the muscles in my back froze after taking recalled medication and they sent a form to my psychiatrist and he tried to fill it out without my permission. That was the best thing they could have done for me, BUT this summer I got a letter from them saying if this should happen again, send the pills back to them immediately.
I have them put away in a nice safe place. They knew my shrink was their pill pusher so they knew he would co-operate as he loves money and they will be hearing from me again. eileen

Re: Adverse Drug Reaction Reporting- U.S. and UK
I finally found a doctor, not american born, that told me to list everything i react to as an allergy or it would not be considered important enough to heed. I had one nurse give me a medication which within 20 minutes i started to sweat profusely and got hives all over my abdomon and she said it was my night gown and gave me another dose ofthe same medication. when I developed a thumdercap headache starting inthe back of my head and wrapping around to the front of my eyes she finally called the doctor who recognized it was an allergy and quickly prescribed medication to halt the reaction... insanity... it's your nightgown take another pill, sadly we are so vulnerable at the point we need the help, we do what were told, and we arent given the credit any other normal person would be afforded.

Stop Addictions
This is a great place to test out new ideas. In fact, it could get some real nuggets here that I'm going to use right away! This certainly makes a good point. I'd like to see the response of others on this topic & Make interesting reading. A step-by-step instructions on this could be very well appreciated. This thread in great. Could anyone tell me whether there are any other Forums on this topic?

hi cracilla, Welcome to paxilprogress. I wasn't clear from your post whether you're going off a medication, or thinking about going off? There's a lot of information on this site and also a lot of experience and support from members. It would help us help you if you could tell us a little about yourself -- whether you're still on meds, and if so whether you're tapering and what your tapering schedule is. Or if you're still on medication but having problems with it or want to be off it, what medication and what dose? If your particular interest is the reporting of adverse effects, there's a search box with a link on the green bar at the top of the page. Click on it and enter the keyword, and if you can't find what you're looking for, let us know more specifically and we'll probably be able to give you some links. One suggestion - when you write a post introducing yourself more, you might want to start a new thread so it will get more people's attention, since this thread is actually fairly old. To start a new thread, click on paxilprogress link towards top left of page, then click on General Discussion (for introducing yourself and other topics of general interest). Then click on the "new post" button. I hope that's helpful. I'll keep an eye out for your post.

Re: Adverse Drug Reaction Reporting- U.S. and UK
Good afternoon:
I am replying to anyone who wishes to remove themselves from this most horrible drug. I had been on paxil for almost 10 years for panic attacks. I decided in June 2008 that it was time to free myself. I printed the Paxil Withdrawal Guide and emailed it to everyone in my family and made sure that my boyfriend had a copy readily available. I began my withdrawal with liquid paxil (of course the insurance companies don't pay for that). I withdrew 2mg every 2 - 3 weeks, depending on how I felt. It was bad, but not terrible. I took my last dosage sometime in August or September 2008. I kept a journal, but choose not to read it. You should be prepared for either no symptoms or alot of symptoms. I have had good days, great days, sad days, and really enraged days. In October 2008, I thought of going back on the drug because I was having too many enraged days, but my family, friends and this website, gets me through each and every day. I know that I have to deal with the panic attacks (which I have had several since being off the drug), but when I know that I will be somewhere not familiar, I take a small dosage of Xanax. I think I'm on the road to recovery, a very longgggggggggg road...but thanks to Darcy, I'm going to get there and so can you. For Furious 3, I know exactly how you feel. IBS is my reaction also to my panic attacks. Keep yourself in comfortable situations for now so as to not worry about not finding a restroom. You must first make sure that YOU are ready to remove yourself from this drug. Then and only then will you be able to get through it. For I feel cheated, yes you can.. If you can live through planning a wedding, you can live through getting off Paxil. Again, only when you are ready to remove yourself... Right now, you are planning your marriage. Do not even think about children right now. Too soon..... Once you are married and settled, you can talk about the withdrawal process with your new husband and family. You will need their support and understanding. It is a long hard road, but I believe that we can all get through it. I wish everyone well that is going through this horrible process as I am. Be strong and REVENGE says.... if we are all off of Paxil, the poor drug company will lose money... Wouldn't that make us feel really bad? NOOOOO!!!! Sheryl |

Hi Laurie,
Have you heard when they are having the FDA hearings? I would love to be there again now that I know what to expect. I try to check the FDA website at least once a month and I don't want to miss it. Angelia |

Re: Adverse Drug Reaction Reporting- U.S. and UK
I just sent a email to the FDA asking them about any FDA hearings on Paxil. If and when I get a reply, I will post it on this website.
