Jhannon??... Lamictal
I'm not sure this was Jhannon, but I wanted to get this information out there.
I know there was a thread on this before the crash. Jhannon, just want to warn you about the black box warnings on Lamictal for skin conditions. There are a few "potentially" fatal warnings for reactions called Stevens Johnson reaction and toxic epidermal necrolysis . Not trying to scare you here, but I just want you to be aware that ANY rashes or skin reddness, pain, swelling MUST be treated as an emergency situation! Lamictal has been approved by the FDA recently for bi-polar with the "mechanism of action unknown". I have NO firsthand experience with Lamictal since I have never given this to a patient.

I'm thinking of you this morning too, Jess. Don't know if you read any of our posts yesterday before the crash, but I know I'm just one of many thinking of you and holding out my hand! xxoo

Re: Jhannon??... Lamictal
I think the safest bet in terms of what is tried and true for bipolar is lithium -- it is just a pain in terms of maintaince but at least it's well studied. It's been on the market for 55 years.
