thanks for getting me to sleep

I was so wigged out last night. Thanks to Scotty for giving me my tapering regimen. My doctor (who is a jerk) was over here last night and said "What's wrong with you?" and I replied, "I'm withdrawing from Paxil and I can barely walk due to the dizziness." He didn't give a .... He basically looked at me like I was stupid. They just don't get it. It kind of makes you want to crush up some paxil in his morning coffee. That was just a little joke. Oh well, I'm glad I'm feeling a little better. He and his wife are coming over for brunch today. Lucky me. You people are great and I can't thank you enough for letting me know that I'm not nuts. I can't believe I was stupid enough to take this stuff in the first place. Lesson learned. Love to all, Susan

Time to bring that doc up to date Susan. Perhaps some printout about withdrawal, some docs just do not update themselves!

Re: thanks for getting me to sleep

Oh my God, in my dizziness, I did six loads of laundry, cooked for these ungrateful people and managed to lay down for 15 minutes before I passed out. Then they thought they were being ignored, so I had to get up. I apologized, and told them that getting off this Paxil is kind of tough, and he rolled his eyes. The good news is that I know there truly is a God, because I didn't hit him. Life is good.

I'm impressed by your restraint! I can guarantee that I would have been able to do what you did. Insult to injury that this guy prescribed a drug he obviously knows nothing about(as most don't!), but to then have to "socialize" with in IN withdrawal and to have him blow it off is awful!

You're a better person than I because I would truly like to do that to many, many people who think it's all made up.

Re: thanks for getting me to sleep

that doc is SUCH a jerk!!!! rolling his eyes at you! its time for a jonestown episode of ER with ALL of our Jerk paxil-pushing doctors to get together and we can make up some paxil cool-aid!!!

Then we can sit around and see who rolls their eyes.
Id LOVE to see my EX-doc in some severe withdrawal for a week or so. you know....like shrink him down so he fits in a fish bowl that you could keep as a curio on the living room table like an ant farm! Watch the little fooles bounce off the glass for a while.

Re: thanks for getting me to sleep

The thing that gets me is that they prescribe this stuff and then they don't believe you when you exhibit atypical symptoms. It's like, "Hey, I'm the one taking the stuff, not you, I know how I feel and you obviously don't." But I guess that won't happen. I've made an appointment with a new doctor on the 5th. Hopefully he will have some advice for me. We'll just have to see how it goes.

Re: thanks for getting me to sleep

Kaamom, you are now seeing the reaction that thousands of others have experienced. "If you're having side effects then you must really need these drugs"!! If you reported the same side effects for any other classification of drug this doc would have you in the office immediately and be EXTREMELY concerned. It's this attitude by docs that perpetuate the problem.
