When does the fog lift?

I seem to still have that brain fog/ Numbness after 8 days off paxil. Paxil
was the first and only drug in this family I have ever taken. I had real bad
reaction (some may know this allready) "a non-metabolizer" after 6 days on. I am taking the Mag. & fish oil now and exercising 30. min/day. Is this normal?
Does it just take more time? Saw the doc yesterday and of course she wanted to put me on something else because of depression. I told her I
wasn't interested. I just want simple things back like being able to feel joy
happiness when I huge kids/wife/dog.

Re: When does the fog lift?

From what I hear from everyone, it can take a long time for it to completely clear up. Sorry that I can't give anything more positive.

Re: When does the fog lift?

it just takes time. it might take a while....a couple weeks....a couple months.
I know that seems ridiculous considering how short you were on it.

give it time. understand that all the SSRIs work the same and that you would probably have the same kind of problem. avoid the trap of....ok...but lets try THIS drug!! its new and special and different.

its not.

this will just take time. be patient. do what you can to relax.

Re: When does the fog lift?

I'm so glad you told your doctor that you weren't interested in taking any more of her poisonous candy!! Good for you!

As others are saying, please be patient. Feeling this way is totally normal, even though it's uncomfortable as heck. It will pass with time. The fact that you refused to take any more meds is a huge step towards total recovery. Good luck to you!

-Currently on the road to recovery, experiencing every bump in the road, it seems.

Re: When does the fog lift?

If you are a "non metabolizer" it's going to take some time to clear the paxil. So even though the length of time on paxil was short, it will be longer to clear it out.

Re: When does the fog lift?

My daughter just took one capsule of Effexor XR, the equivalent of 5 mg Paxil and was very ill for 3 days. She discarded the bottle immediately. It might take a bit of time for the fog to go away but it will.
