LOL! I know that you LOVE me!! The funny part about GSK's response was that we were handing out a flyer that told the public what the response would be... we hit it on the head!!

I guess a lot of lurking to strike at what 'X' must think is the "right" moment and pointing out what he perceives as negative.

Re: LIVE from the Paxilprotest!!

I am glad that I could do something by contacting those news stations in Philadelphia. I am not sure if they covered the protest or not though. If anyone finds out, please let us know.

Thanks!

Someone with an image editor needs to change the "GlaxoSmithKline" logo on the building to "Glaxo$mithKline" for accuracy.

Wouldn't that be funny. I'm getting closer to my count down to start decreasing. October 4/05 seeing new psychiatrist. Hope I like her, but if I don't I won't go back. My family doctor will decrease my dosage for me.
Hi to everybody and I believe I made an error on of my posts to Red king, it was meant for Derek who is on his Paxil removal journey. Sorry no harm meant.

Wouldn't it be great if the actual sign on the building would be changed to what you're suggesting to do in cyberspace??? Anyway, isn't real nice to dream once in a while?

Well.... some of us on Paxil display unhibited behaviour. So it might be a "fair" picture????

They should include in that "science" the stack of adverse reactions reported after Paxil's release a mile high. If they'd do longer clinical trials, and throw a few more humans in, maybe they would see that before release (if they want to).

I believe that there were withdrawl symptoms experiences even in their short clinical trials. Weren't some of those covered up under "emotional lability"? Rob the "Paxil expert" could shine some light on this.

Re: LIVE from the Paxilprotest!!

[QUOTEWhile we sympathize with anyone facing health challenges, we don't believe that science supports the claims voiced by the individuals involved in this event." [/b][/quote]

61 percent of patients in a GSK trial showed withdrawal symptoms. The data was supressed and later uncovered. There is an ABC news article detailing this as well as the primetime live show. Both include the internal memo with the 1 billion dollar money bag graphic and the instructions to sales reps to portray withdrawal as mild and transient. There are also over 100 studies detailing withdrawal phenenomena, including infants, which to my knowledge have no access to the internet. There are over 5000 litigants in paxil class action suits alone. The drug companies themselves have information on withdrawal on their web sites. Over a five year period I have read approximately 4000-5000 individual anecdotes of antidepressant withdrawal including those from people who can't walk into the emergency room and whose ymptoms abate within hours of resuming paxil. Withdrawal occurs often within days of when the offending medication is discontinued and follows the pharmokinetics of the drug perfectly. In other words people have withdrawal based on the half life of the drug. Saying that the science does not support the claim is ludicrous.

Re: LIVE from the Paxilprotest!!

Thanks for throwing some light on the subject mike. I'm almost afraid to start my going off program, after so many years. No doubt the doctors will say that anything adverse that happens to me will be caused by depression and not withdrawal.

I can shine some light on it. I know that dr David Healy wrote about it in one of his articles. There were withdrawal problems in those trials, in fact even a suicide by someone who got bad withdrawal and couldnīt endure it. It was a young, healthy volunteer and dr Healy could see no other reason for it than Paxil withdrawal. Canīt remember which Healy-paper itīs in but I think itīs called SSRIs and WITHDRAWAL/DEPENDENCE,

Go to:

socialaudit.org.uk/58092-DH,htm

And find: Lots and lots of doctor written material on drug trials and withdrawal in trials. The suicide and other wd problems are mentioned in one of dr Healyīs articles which are good and worth reading through. There is also good articles by another doctor, professor Heather Ashton who knows about drugs and withdrawal. She has run a benzo withdrawal clinic and has of course looked into the SSRI problems as well.

AD history:
Celexa 20 mg 1997-98. Quit CT, no WD problems.
Paxil/Seroxat 20 mg 2001-2003 then switched to 50 mg Zoloft without any WD problems after the switch. Zoloft later increased to 75 mg.

2004 tapered Zoloft too quickly after sudden onset of muscle stiffness and extreme restlessness on full dose. Severe and prolonged WD problem with a long list of symptoms. Considerable mental but very little physical improvement so far. Last Zoloft dose April 18 2004.

Re: LIVE from the Paxilprotest!!

We'll what can one say but MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. The Paxil Protest was an utterly spectacular success on all fronts.

I'm looking forward to reading all the new posts at Paxil Progress, sifting through hundreds of e-mails received the world over, taking in the tremendous press coverage the event received (newspapers, TV and radio) ... and getting set to launch the NEXT Paxil Protest well before the end of this year.

The NEXT Paxil Protest?! But, of course. This first one was merely the opening act for what's coming.

More later....
