Paxil Flu?

I'm feeling very sick physically, this must be Paxil Flu. Head ache, like I never had before, exhausted, nauseaus (being kept down, but still there, by Ginger tea.)
Elisa you have helped me so much before, do you know of anything that might help me. I'm taking multiple viatim, viatim D, calcium, magnesium and fish oil. Wait a minute I didn't take my fish oil last night, would that do it. If you or anybody know of anything that would help, please let me know. I'm between 5-6 weeks at the same dose. I know it was too high, but I don't want to go back now. Going to bed now. Excuse my spelling, I'm too sick to look anything up.

Re: Paxil Flu?

There isn't much that can be done for fatique Eileen.

I've got a few more foods that can help for nausea, although I haven't tried them myself.

Boiled eggs - Raw almonds - Oatmeal porridge with honey and dried ginger - plain potatoes.

Gravol as a last resort.

Hope that one or more of these will help.

Good luck.

Thank You so much elisa. I'll try them all until I get a cure. Not going to take Gravol unless I'm on the floor.

Re: Paxil Flu?

Those are some things I would have NEVER considered during a nausea bout.

Eileen, I slept. I made a lot of trips to the bathroom, but in between those I was flat on my belly in bed. Lasted about full force (couldn't walk far or stay upright) for about 24-hours, but took a few days to get much strength back.

My Paxil flu came with cold turkey, so my experience may be nothing like yours. In the end, I hope it passes quickly. I'd send hugs, but I know you don't even want to pretend someone's "looking" at you, much less touching you.

Re: Paxil Flu?

Thanks all for the support. I'm feeling much better this morning, but the nausea is always threatening. Delyn, I can't believe you went cold turkey, how many days were you off. You must have gone through hell on earth.
I'm writing what I went through for others to see. I would have been really afraid if I didn't know what it was. This is not just withdrawing from a pill, this is detoxification.
Yesterday I was sweating enough to change my PJ's, I had pain in places that I didn't know could pain. (navel) Not long time pain, but pain here and pain there. Some zaps, but only lightly. Head pain and dizziness. I would have sweats, and then get cold chills. This should be posted on all bottles of Paxil. I have sharp pain in my head on and off since the beginning of Paxil. I couldn't even read, because my eyes were sore. I splashed some cold water on my face and it was like all the nerve endings in my face, were exposed.
I hope I won't have any hallucinations. What should I tell my husband to do, if I do? I told him not to take me to the hospital if I do.
Elisa, Delyn and Rita you have been so kind to me, I don't think I will get through it without Paxil Progress and your support.

Re: Paxil Flu?

Eileen, THEY (along with some others on here) saved me! They'll have to give you the answer for the "what to do" for your hubby. I can't say that I had "hallucinations", but more of not being able differentiate between dream-state and reality. Sounds just like a hallucination, but it always felt like I was coming out of a dream. Driving the kids I kept having to remind myself that THIS was reality, these cars around me are real, my kids are in the back, did I look at that last turn? I was aware enough to know that I was putting myself and my kids in danger in this state, my husband was conveniently out of town, and I knew something had to be fixed.

Thank God I found this site. The only thing I can think of is to make sure that hubby is available to run the errands and do the stuff around the house when you don't have the strength or sense of balance to complete them.

The better answers will be coming from others. I'll be thinking of you! Oh, yeah. I was cold-turkey for 12 days, Paxil Flu hitting me on day 3, rage hitting me on day 7, loss of reality beginning day 10. Evening 12, paxilprogress appeared in my search engine and my life - and very possibly the lives of my children (and hubby when he returned home) were saved.

Re: Paxil Flu?

Delyn, you certainly had it rough. I haven't driven the car in several weeks and don't intend to, until I stabilize a bit more. Hubby does everything around the house but I'm the one that does all the accounting and the business for the house. Just posting, but I'm so far behind and my accountant wants to come over next week to collect it all. I'll try, but I can't push myself, If it gets bad, I'll have to go to bed. My nerve endings seem to be exposed in some places. Thanks for all the support. Yu must be a very strong person to be able to do this while looking after your young children

Re: Paxil Flu?

I have strong kids. They get the credit.

You take care of yourself. Rest a lot, work in tiny spurts. An occasional curse word thrown in the direction of GSK has helped me immensely at times.

Re: Paxil Flu?

Hi DeLyn, Elisa and Rita, I wanted to let you know that I'm feeling much better. Thanks for all your support, it really helped. I was frightened. I now have sympathy for what we term (drug addicts) I'm addicted to a drug and it was given to me by a medical doctor. Without Paxil Progress, I would still be taking 30 mg. My mind is certainly a lot clearer. Thank you all, who could be so lucky as to send out an SOS and receive help immediately. It seems like I have to eat small amounts all the time. If I get the least bit hungry, I get nauseous.
Now I will have to try and get some work done.

Re: Paxil Flu?

I'm so glad to hear you're feeling a bit better! It will continue, but don't overdo your activities. You are going to tire very easily for a while, so keep your schedule open for some sporadic napping.

I'm not sure about everyone else, but I only had the Paxil-Flu symptoms once. Hopefully this part is a one-time-only and you won't have to deal with it again.

Big smiles coming from Texas!

Re: Paxil Flu?

Thanks Delyn,
I hope it won't come again. If it happens again, I'm going right to bed. I'm still going to wait a while to take the 20's I have here. I will have to keep on napping, but I'm not quite as tired as I was. Big grins from Canada by the sea to Texas. I hope you're feeling better.

Re: Paxil Flu?

Eileen, you might want to look into hypoglycema (sp?) if that's part of the problem you're having. That's because you've got to eat every few hours to stave off the nausea. I believe that there is some info about it somewhere here on this site. Otherwise Google??

Re: Paxil Flu?

Do you mean blood sugar Elisa. I had my doctor check it a couple of months ago and it came back fine. I wonder if withdrawal could change that. Thanks for replying. I will look into it again.

Re: Paxil Flu?

I suspect it is elisa. I thought I heard somebody else say that eating keeps the nausea down. I'll never lose any weight if I'm munching 4-5 times a day.
