Can this be withdrawal too?

I have been off anti-depressants since October 9th. I have written about trouble with belly pain and praise God that has since resolved itself and hopefully will never return. But the thing that has since been giving me trouble is sinus pain. I got a head cold early in October, the usual, sore throat, runny nose. Then the unusual part, my neck and upper back were so terribly sore I could not believe it. This was all at the time I quit Cymbalta. I did wonder if it had something to do with withdrawal. I did not go on any antibiotics with the "colo/flu" as it did not affect my asthma this time. For about 4 weeks I struggled to get over this stuff. Then I kind of got better. Then early last week I got worse again. My sinuses started to throb like crazy, my neck and upper back were in spasm and my ears felt funny. Last Thursday I finally called my GP and told him what was going on and he told me to come in. He said it had been going on too long and put me on Zithromax. He also scolded me for going off the Cymbalta so quickly but also said way to go!! I have been losing weight and he was thrilled with that and said hooray, your double chin is gone! He also took me off the blood pressure medicine I have taken for many years. I was excited about that. Well that is irrelevant to my head thing. Does anyone have any experience with sinus problems and withdrawal? What can make it better? I went to the chiropractor several times last week and he said my neck and shoulders were a wreck and worked on them doing active release stuff. That helped but nothing has taken it all away. My head is still throbbing. Is this typical of withdrawal or is there something else going on with me I need to pursue?? Thanks so much. Deb

Re: Can this be withdrawal too?

It could be partly withdrawal, but this sounds more like the time of year - to me. Beware of more tummy problems with the Zithromax and hopefully you will be over this soon!

I guess the reason I'm thinking this way is because I was drop kicked with strep this past week, neck spasms like crazy, lymph nodes painful to the touch completely across my neck. Hopefully I will be over the soon, too.

Re: Can this be withdrawal too?

Sinus pain can refer to the neck. See what happens after the run of Zithromax.

Re: Can this be withdrawal too?

Deb, it could be paxil. When I was weaning I had a few bad days where my whole body felt like I had been beaten up with a baseball bat. Every muscle in my body was tight, especially the neck and back. I was in dreadful pain. The only thing that helped ease the pain was a nice warm soak in the tub for about 20 minutes and some ibuprofen. I've taken Zithromax several times. It can definitely cause very sharp stomach cramps, but don't stop taking it. You need to finish the whole dose. I really hope you feel better

Re: Can this be withdrawal too?

Thanks everyone for your quick responses, I hate to just blame everything on withdrawal but this has been going on for a month now. I will continue with the hot soaks and steams and the zithromax, tomorrow is my 5th day already. Then there is 5 days where they are supposed to still be working. Hopefully I will be feeling much better in another 5 days. I think I mostly got really run down. the muscle spasms in my neck and shoulder are just the worst and contribute to the headaches and after so many days you just lose your perspective on everything. I will keep your posted! Again thanks for the caring replies. Deb

Re: Can this be withdrawal too?

Hi Taylor - from what I gather this is part of withdrawal. I've had a 'cold', aching body and really bad asthma since starting to reduce. It's going to be worth it in the end, though!
