Please HELP!!!!!

I feel like crap right now. My boyfriend went to Windsor to his parents and took all the pills with him by mistake. I am on serious paxil withdrawals..I haven't taken any since Wednesday and it's now Sunday night.

I have serious head spins and dizziness, and like this electric zap thing in my head. I feel naseaus and have thrown up a few times. I couldn't sleep last night, I was up until 4:30AM. I was so desperate that I was on the floor in my room searching for any pills that may have dropped on the floor. I then proceeded to bawl for about an hour..I bawled in my car today and for an hour while I just layed in bed.

Knowing that I am THIS addicted to these pills scares me. I have been on them for about a year now and I take them for anxiety, I am also unemployed because of my anxiety. Having been off the pills for about 4 days now? I am starting to think maybe I want to try quitting altogether. I don't want to be on them the rest of my life..but I don't want to be anxious either. I heard taking Paxil can cause serious birth defects in children now too and that makes me not want a family anymore considering both my boyfriend and I are on paxil..

What do I do? I need some serious advice.

Also, is there anything I can take to help the withdrawal symptoms?

Oh...I am also taking 50mg of the paxil for anyone who needs that info

Re: Please HELP!!!!!

You don't want to cold turkey from 50mg of paxil. This is EXTREMELY dangerous! Is there anyway you can get some paxil to take until he gets home? If you explained the situation to the pharmacy they should get you enough to hold you over until he comes home. Go back on the 50mg and plan a slow wean. Read the FAQ here to get an idea of what you could experience(not everyone does).

Re: Please HELP!!!!!

Hi Missy, walk into your pharmacy and ask for a few pills to carry you over, they will do that for you no problem in Ontario.... especially for people taking ssri's.

Re: Please HELP!!!!!

Missy, in your condition call your pharmacist before you try to drive yourself (or even walk) over. Another option is to call your prescribing physician to see if they have samples that will get you through. As a last resort, get yourself to an emergency room or 24-hour clinic to get a sufficient supply until he returns.

If you cannot handle it through the night, somehow get to an ER - preferably someone taking you as we know from personal experience that it may not be safe to drive yourself. Good luck!

Re: Please HELP!!!!!

you need to go to your doctor and have them give you samples.. it will probably get worse if you don't.

Re: Please HELP!!!!!

It is not a problem here at all Scott, I have done it a few times in the past, for Skye's paxil as well as other medications.

Re: Please HELP!!!!!

Ugh, I tried going to a pharmacy and the person there wouldn't give me anything because I didn't have a written prescription with me.

I am going to call my psychiatrist tomorrow because I can't handle it anymore. I am on day 5 now..almost day 6 without any medication and I've been throwing up everything I eat...and the only time I feel somewhat okay is when I am laying in bed or sleeping.

The rest of the time I am too dizzy to do anything..the minute I get up I feel like I am going to pass out.

Thanks for all the advice. I don't want to quit cold turkey..I can't deal with these symptoms anymore.

I would go back to that pharmacy and talk to this person! There is a law (good samaritan) that says that you HAVE to help somebody whose life is in danger : and paxil withdrawal is serious stuff. Get the medication as soon as you can, dont stay alone if you feel sick and talk to that stupid pharmacist or assistant pharmacist!! I would!!! THEY HAVE TO HELP YOU IT IS THE LAW.

Yes, you should call the psychiatrist, a regular doc would write a presciption as well. The pharmacy where you fill your prescription has an obligation to give you a couple pills to carry you over, and they can call the doc to renew.

Don't take no for an answer.

Re: Please HELP!!!!!

in the states the law says it's a felony to dispense without a prescription.. they're very strict about that here

Re: Please HELP!!!!!

It is allowed here only at the pharmacy who has been filling the prescription, and they are to contact the doc for confirmation of a renewal if pills are lost etc.

Sometimes docs are away etc., and until they can contact the doc or secretary to record pill were lost and confirmation to renew, they have to provide the med if it was already prescribed.

I am not sure that it is a good thing in some cases, however I have had to do it on occasion and was thankful. Once I was refused for Skye's paxil, and by the time I got home they were on the phone apologizing and delivered 4 pills until they could contact the doc.

Re: Please HELP!!!!!

Get hold of ANY doctor and get a prescription as soon as possible! Cold turkey from 50 mg Paxil is extremely dangerous! Get the pills before this goes too far!

Paxil/Seroxat 20 mg 2001-2003 then switched to 50 mg Zoloft without any WD problems after the switch. Zoloft later increased to 75 mg.

2004 tapered Zoloft too quickly after sudden onset of muscle stiffness and extreme restlessness on full dose. Severe and prolonged WD problem with a long list of symptoms. Considerable mental but very little physical improvement so far. Last Zoloft dose April 18 2004.
