Pain in Both Arms and Shoulders

This has come on over about the past 2 weeks and seems to be getting worse. Really aches if I have to pick something up or move my arms. Anyone else had this? Sometimes it's in my legs, too, but I don't notice it quite so much. It's rather like the aches and pains you have with flu, but really deep pain.

Re: Pain in Both Arms and Shoulders

Yes, pain/soreness in all limbs and joints. Sometimes all at once, sometimes just 3 or 4 areas at one time. Neck soreness and stiffness. Pain in right hip has been constant - muscles and joint. The all over pain has diminished over time, fairly regular but not constant. Ibuprofen helped me, but have to take sparingly because of what the Paxil has already done to the liver.

Heat, frequent position changes, gentle stretching, rest.

Re: Pain in Both Arms and Shoulders

I also have pain in my shoulders....they feel like they are on fire! My chiropractor told me I need magnesium. It is the drup getting out of your system!!! So, I am doing that(i've only had this for about 4 days) and using the heating pad really works too!

Re: Pain in Both Arms and Shoulders

I was fairly incapacitated by that kind of pain for about 18 months....starting at month 10 of paxil WD. It was horrible.
there was a 6 week period of pain and spasms so severe that i really could not use my right arm....and my right hand was numb in the thumb and index fingers.

Magnesium helped greatly. Energy field therapies worked greatly. and Colorpuncture finally settled the pain 100%.

Re: Pain in Both Arms and Shoulders

I had this pain for months on end. I recall not being able to lift my arms and in early withdrawal almost wanted to crawl to get around everything hurt so bad. The only thing that worked for me other than the magnesium which I know helped, was Noni Juice.

When I would take noni, I felt NO pain. Then as I would run out of it, slowly the pain would come back. Then on Noni again, no pain.

Noni is a natural juice which has had much research that shows that it is a natural cox 2 inhibitor....some say 75% as affective as morhine for pain. It is however a bit expensive. It's very important to get the PURE noni with no added fruit juices and no sugar added.

Re: Pain in Both Arms and Shoulders

Thanks All

I'm already on Magnesium, but perhaps need a higher dosage. Am also checking out the Noni and Energy Field Therapy suggested. Thank goodness for this forum! Yes, the pain in shoulders is like fire - I've likened it to my bone marrow being replaced with petrol and someone's ignited it! There was a time when I thought Seroxat was a real boon to me and it would be so easy to go back on it at this stage, but that ISN'T an option.

Re: Pain in Both Arms and Shoulders

Hi Kitsyl,

Me too I get pains all over the place, they last a short while go away and then return from time to time, the only one that has never gone away is pain in the shoulder area, this seems pretty constant, i think this is muscle related due to constant tension which I cannot seem to shift at all

Last night I developed a real awful pain in my left arm, it felt deep seated like it was my bone, my arm felt heavy, achy and painful (Like restless leg but in my arm), this was still there when i woke up this morning and drove me mad all day, but has eased off now that it is late afternoon, thankfully.

i also get alot of weird sensations still in my arms and legs like they don't belong to me like they are not doing what I think my brain is telling them to, if that makes sense, they feel kinda surreal sometimes, very weird...

Hope you get better soon, just thought i'd post to reassure you that these are w/d symptoms for sure..

Re: Pain in Both Arms and Shoulders

Hi Shellshock

Really appreciated your post. Sorry you're in pain, but it is reassuring to learn that this is all 'normal' in withdrawal. Interesting that you mention the heaviness, too, because I actually feel that my limbs are too heavy to lift at times!

Take care

Kit

Re: Pain in Both Arms and Shoulders

Hi ,

I have severe pain in my left hand and in the shoulder. This was aggravated after my workout last week.I have been visiting a physiotherapist. Some relief, yes. I refused pain killer Myoril ,since it can kick up lots of symptoms,as I have tapered Xanax recently.

How can I assess my Magnesium requirement ?

Re: Pain in Both Arms and Shoulders

Sorry for bumping an old thread but it is very relevant to my current situation.

About 6 weeks ago I started having slight discomfort and then pain in my left shoulder. Then it spread down my left arm and eventually to the right side as well. Now my neck hurts as well. Some days I feel absolutely fine but most of the time at least one shoulder/arm hurts and sometimes both. They feel extremely heavy with constant dull aches and some sharp stabbing pain at times. I know part of it is how I sleep and probably my posture.

I am wanting to know if the people that posted in this thread found relief through supplements or acupuncture or therapy or anything?! I've been using an ice pack a lot, taking Aleve, doing epsom salt baths...these help but nothing has gotten it to stop.

Re: Pain in Both Arms and Shoulders

I have been dealing with arm/hand pain since withdrawal as well. It involves numbness as well. In the first few months of withdrawal my entire arms and hands hurt and would go numb. As I heal the pain ad numbness reduces along my arms. I feel the numbness gradually easing down my arms towards my hands. In six months the pain/numbness has gone from the entire length of my arms and hands to only my hands and tips of my fingers. Nerve healing? I hope and think so. With my progress this should be gone in a few more months. Good luck all.

Re: Pain in Both Arms and Shoulders

Anastasio, I am glad you bumped this. I was doing a search on this very issue and this post may help a bit.

Also wondering if anyone who had the (flu-like) muscle aches start later in the tapering process was able to figure out if it is a sign that the body needs more time before another taper. I am assuming it is but have been waiting a couple of weeks because of the muscle soreness and hate to think the wait is for nothing.
