Long overdue update

Hi everyone,

I don't know if any of you remember me, but this site saved my life several months ago when I went off Paxil cold turkey (before knowing what I was doing).

I haven't visited the site any several months (5 or 6), and thought it was time to touch base and give some encouragement to those in desparation. I now see that light at the end of the tunnel. It's still quite far away, but I now see it. A few months back I didn't believe it existed, but now I know it's there.

I am now 8 1/2 months Paxil-free. I'm socializing more now, I'm getting out and about, the depression hits much less often. The physical symptons are few and far-between. It's been a lot of hard work. I still see my psychologist once a week and my reiki master at least once a month. I do lots of breathing exercises and have started working out. I deal with chronic back pain, so the working out is just in the initial stages. The chronic back pain has not helped through all this hell. My doctor figures it definitely contributes to my depression.

Anyways, all this to say, there is hope out there. I still have a long road ahead of me, but I'm sooooooooooo much better than I was many months ago. People even tell me I look healthier and happier. I would never have made it without all of you here. Thankyou so much.

I will try to visit the site more often to encourage others. But things are so busy here now. I wish you all hope and love. Please don't give up...any of you.

Love,
Kelley

Re: Long overdue update

Hi Kelley,
Thank you so much for the encouraging update. I'm so glad that you are doing better! I am almost eight and a half months paxil free and I am also slowly starting to feel better. I'm so glad that you intend to visit more often as an encouragement to others. I remember just a couple of months ago when I was in the pit of despair, reading the updates of some of the members who had been through it and had come out on the other side. It was such a source of hope to me in some of the darkest moments of my life.
Anyway, I'm very happy for you that you are doing so much better!

Chris

Re: Long overdue update

That's fabulous news, Kelley. If I might ask, how are you treating your back pain? I'm curious because I also suffer with chronic back pain. Had back surgery many years ago, and scar tissue and arthritis have caused problems in recent years. I swim, walk, and do light Pilates and yoga, but like you, I'm in early stages. It's going to take time to strengthen the back muscles. Anyway, it's great to hear about your success.

Re: Long overdue update

Feelin Wiggy,

Sorry to take so long to get back to you. I have a degerative disk problem. I see a chiropractor at least once a week. He and his wife (also a chiropractor) are very good friends. He is doing his utmost to keep me surgery free for as long as possible, but feels it is inevitable. I'm trying out some naturopathic drops he gave me that is suppose to help. So far so good. I have very specific stretching that I do most days. I just started up with Curves to try and get back into better shape. It's one step at a time. It can be very discouraging at times which doesn't help with the recovery from Paxil, but them's the breaks.

I should start with some light Pilates like you, but chiro wants me to start one thing at a time and not to push it.

Sorry that I don't have more advice. I just take it one day at a time. Take care.

Kelley
