help please?

i'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this but anyway

ive ben trying to get off paxil for a while now decreasing my dose etc and now i havent taken any for about 4 days because i have to give an urine and blood sample in 3 days and i dont want them to know i'm on paxil.

so my question is if i havent taken paxil for about 7-8 days will it be out of my system so that they cant find any of it?

and the withdrawal symptoms are getting bad now and i wanna take a bit today so if i do will it be out of my body in 3 days?

i'm using the tablet version not the liquid and the last time i took it i took about 10 or 5 MG

Re: help please?

well, i don't know about that.. they are not going to find paxil if they are not looking for paxil.. it is dangerous to go on and off like that.. is it worth it?

Re: help please?

Most routine drug tests don't include ssri's. I've never seen one in the hospital. If the paxil is prescribed by a doc, then it wouldn't matter anyway even if it did show.

Re: help please?

they look for everything i think....both legal and illegal drugs.

if i take legal drugs i had to tell them what kind etc when filling out forms. i didnt because i know if i tell them i'm on anti depressants they wont take me for the job

Re: help please?

This is something I found about routine drug testing.

"The routine drug testing module consists of four urine samples, which may contain any of the following drugs: amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, benzoylecgonine, ethanol, fentanyl, methadone, opiates, phencyclidine, propoxyphene, THC-cannabinoids, and tricyclic antidepressants."

It does mention the tricylics, but not ssri's. Hope this helps.

Re: help please?

day one 10mg
day two 5mg
day three 2.5
day four 1.25
day five .75
day six .375
day seven .1875

This is using a 24 hour halflife. Paxil's is about 21 hours, so the numbers would be even lower.
I would think that that level is undetectable even if they did check for it, which I don't think they would.

Re: help please?

Your concern at this point should be withdrawal symptoms.

Re: help please?

You need to be more concerned about what could happen if you keep depriving your brain of serotonin. What you are doing is not safe. Don't worry about paxil showing up on a urine test. It isn't heroin, it's a legal drug. You will be fine so long as you take your paxil and stop playin with fire!

I'm not trying to be insensitive. Believe me I know what can happen if you suddenly stop taking it. Just be careful.

Re: help please?

Lucid, what kind of job is this??? A prescribed medication will NOT count against you on a drug screen.

Re: help please?

Valium is a benzo.. yes that would show on a drug screen, but again if it's prescribed it's not a problem.

Re: help please?

I'm don't know how long valium stays in the system. I wouldn't worry about it. You're doing yourself more harm than good by going off paxil cold turkey.

Re: help please?

the thing is i dont need these meds. i only take paxil still cause of the withdrawal side effects and i'm taking a smaller dose using my pill cutter everytime i take it. and i know if i could get away from home my life would improve and i wouldnt need meds ever again. hence trying to get into the millitary

Re: help please?

I understand where you're coming from, but just stopping paxil could be a bigger problem than the drug test. Why not put off the military until your completely off the drugs? Remember just getting off the pill doesn't mean that withdrawal is over. The brain needs time to readjust..being in the military is a stress that probably wouldn't mix well with this. I couldn't imagine being in boot camp in withdrawal. How did you wean off?

Be good to yourself... take the time to get off properly and then persue the military.. they'll wait for ya!!!!
