the liver problems manifest

hello, this is a slight continuation of the jaundice post, but id rather keep all the info here. so i have slight jaundice, and a burning and then cold sensation around my liver area. i got all the blood work and will have the restults sunday.

thanks to mizzb for the castor oil recomendation, i will start that this weekend.

i pray my liver doesnt continue to worsen or fail, i pray that its just part of the detox process, only time will tell.

what are all of your results and experiences with liver/oaxil/tests

Re: the liver problems manifest

The only time i've ever had liver probs is during pregnancy...eclampsia and hellp syndrome. The main blood test they do is the SGOT/ALT (liver enzymes, when elevated, indicate liver damage.) The enzymes are sort of a byproduct of the dying liver cells. Signs are usually dull achy to sharp pain in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen, and if it's really bad you'll see the yellowing of the sclera of the eyes and skin (jaundice).

That stuff with the liver is serious. You say you are already experiencing jaundice and that's just not good. Make sure that they check for all the different types of diseases that could cause your liver to become inflammed. It could be a number of things including the paxil withdrawl. Try and get as much rest as ya can. And try not to take any meds that might cause undue stress on your liver.(i sound like i'm talkin to a patient ...sorry lol habit)

Please keep us posting on what's going on and why you could possibly be in liver failure. Take care.

Re: the liver problems manifest

Liver damage is a possibility in withdrawal, but not the only adverse effect. Getting it out of the system quickly can be detrimental to other areas, like the brain, stomach, intestines etc...So yes, getting off paxil is excellent for the liver, getting off slow is key!!!

I'm sorry to hear about your news. I hope it doesn't get worse for you....hopefully it's just withdrawal and nothing permanent. Sending hugs and prayers your way..........

Gotta,

When I was pregnant, I was on high doses of Aldomet that is known to cause liver damage. I was so freaked out about that, but my docs assured me that the liver has an amazing ability to repair itself. I held onto that assurance, you can too.

Re: the liver problems manifest

Just to let you know, after a year off paxil , I was practically yellow ...

I think its took about 2 years before my liver cleaned out the paxil garbage...
But who knows , the paxil experience is unmapped territory, as far as what the future holds... most of it is guesswork ....

Re: the liver problems manifest

also i wanted to ask what other symptoms did everyone else have related to the liver?

my tongue is white, my breath is bad (but has gotten a bit better) and i got tiny red bumps/lesions on various parts of my body.

so yeah those are other things to watch out for in addition to normal symptoms

Re: the liver problems manifest

ive had red bumps....and hives....and all sorts of skin things....for i dont know how long now. over 2 years i think . epsom salt baths will help draw that out.

another thing im doing is Far Infrared Sauna. it REALLLLY helps detox the body and does it thru sweat....but not exertion.....so you dont get toxins in the bloodstream and feel sick. its pretty sweet. also...im using vitamin K for the hives and that seems to help as long as i stay out of chemicals like jewlery cleaners.

Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage have a lot of sulfur. that will help your liver. and i LOVE my Detoxication Factors by Tyler-inc.com. those REALLY help with detox nutrients. and GREENS FIRST is the other product i use which is veggie nutrients. i think the greens first is the one thing that i will never give up. spirulina and chlorella and like 20 veggies. after a few months on that and yer poop dont even smell! and tongue is pink and healthy again.

its heavy nutrient stuff. that is what has i think helped heal my body.
i would never get that much veggie stuff from food....and when i cant eat because im ill....i can down a greens first and get a lot of nutrient value in not much food stuff....and its never made me puke yet!!

Re: the liver problems manifest

For good advice on liver health, check out the Liver Doctor's website. http://www.liverdoctor.com I have her book have followed the diet. It's very safe and full of nutritious food. I've had IBS for years, and in early w/l, I had terrible bloating and liver pain. Not anymore. One thing that has made a huge difference is cutting way back on meat. I only eat red meat once a week at the most. Should probably give it up completely, but I'm too much of a meat eater. I don't take Dr. Cabot's supplement. Instead, I use a Whole Foods product called Opti Liver. Of course, that's out of the question for you until you know exactly what you're dealing with. Be careful with vitamins. Some can be highly toxic to a damaged liver, especially the B vitamins.

Re: the liver problems manifest

Hi

I didnt have my liver checked at the time because i was still mostly uninformed about paxil , i have been posting here a year now , and im very well informed now and i believe the yellowy jaundiced face i had and general crappyness was due to toxic overload of paxil....

I find it quite ironic that when people first take paxil they sweat all the time but then after withdrawal the body seems to lose its ability to sweat for some people....so a build up of toxins in inevitable
