Paxil Free as of 3/12/06

Just wanted to say that this site has helped me understand what your body goes through when withdrawing from Paxil. I really only started having withdraw symptoms this past month... I thought I had caught a stomach virus, but it never went away. After reading about the "bowl" disruptances that Paxil withdraw causes, I now know what is causing my 'issues'. I also have the "wooshing" affect, anger/frustration, headaches...etc Thanks for all the helpful info and advice that has helped me understand what I am experiancing and why I am experiancing it.
_____________
Began Paxil in 2002 for anxiety/panic attacks
Took 75 MG of Paxil CR for 3 years
Started weaning off in 2005 (switched to reg. Paxil (generic) )
Took my last 10mg pill on Sunday, 3/12/06

Hi Lizzabethy, and welcome! It is a feeling I can definitely relate to when you find a whole bunch of people with similar experiences. It's about a year ago when I had the same aha! experience finding this awesome board!

Post away, and read lots! You're in very good company here. Lots of big and beautiful hearts.

Isn't it ever? I shudder to think what life could have looked like without the benefits of this board. The w/d symptoms you mentioned are so familiar to me and I can only imagine what sort of diagnoses and information some people get if trying to get off paxil on their own.

how are you doing now?

Re: Paxil Free as of 3/12/06

So true! Like I said, I thought I was sick and had a virus.... It didn't "hit" me until I read this board that I was going thru Paxil withdraws.....and of course a Doctor isn't going to warn you (unless he's REALLY good) ;-) I am doing fine, just dealing with the day to day symptoms..... I know some have it a lot worse and hopefully they get some relief very soon.

I went from the 75MG of Paxil CR (2 ea 37.5mg pills) to 60 mg of generic Paxil then I went on 40mg for 6 months.... After that I started the monthly decline of milligrams, so ....from 40mg to 30mg, to 20mg and then to 10mg. And here I am!

Well you seem to be doing well, so keep going!!! Some are able to handle big drops like that, but not many. Good for you. Yikes 75mg of paxil!!!!

Re: Paxil Free as of 3/12/06

Now that I think about it, I have no idea why I was taken up to the 75mg level. Of course, at the time I knew nothing about what was going on with me and why, so I just went with what my Dr. said to do. Hopefully soon I can get back to feeling normal and like myself again. I do realize that the symptoms that I am having could be a lot worse and I am thankful that at least I can get on with daily activities...

Congratulations! We are here if you have questions in the upcoming weeks/months during your withdrawal. Be kind to yourself... your body is healing now. Rest when you need to. I've been off for two months and feel good a lot of the time... and then other times my body reminds me it's still in withdrawal and I have to take it easy. Good luck to you!
