Update.
Hello everyone still paxil free after a rapid wean since 12/28/2005.
I just lost my mother on the 16th she was 61 and she had a massive heart attack while waiting on the Ambulance but my wife was holding her hand and she did not die alone.I miss her deeply but that is an appointment we all will keep one day.She is safe in the Lords hands in heaven whom she trusted in. I just changed doctors again and told him of the horror`s of paxil. He put me on wellbutrin but after two days of taking it I actually thought that I was dying so I trashed it.I went back for some blood work and told of the spell I had while on wellbutrin for two days so his nurse gave me a month supply of Lexapro and after reading that it is an SSRI I refused to take it. I hope to find a medication that works for anxiety and panic attacks that are not a new age medication nor in the SSRI family.Valium I use to take and it worked very well but it is hard to get a doctor today to give it.Why even make such medications as valium when the doctors think you are just after a scrip of dope? Thank you all for reading. Steven.

Sorry to hear about your mother Steven, I am sure this must be a very difficult time for you.

Re: Update.
Steven, the best medication you will ever use are the coping strategies and self-nurturing tools you discover and utilize in your own health and wellness. You simply will not find it outside of yourself, and especially not in the form of any company's pretty pill. It's a tough reality, imo.
My sincere condolences on your mother's crossing, Steven. |

Re: Update.
Thank you all for the kind words.
My doctor also prescribed Neurontin for the pinched nerves in my back for the pain but after reading some negative post about it I refuse to have it filled. My mother had a lung disease from smoking over 35 years and the breathing treatments she took she told me made her heart race ect....it may be that her medications killed her by giving her a heart attack? Yes it is a very rough time for me because I seen my mother daily for 40 years and we were not only mother and son but best of friends. Steven.

Re: Update.
Steven,
My condolences to you and your family. I know this must be a difficult time for all of you. I commend you for not taking another SSRI. Anxiety is something a lot of us are dealing with here. Have you tried the other methods, e.g. cognitive-behavioral therapy, meditation, exercise and taking supplements? All of these are good ways of dealing with it. Blessings to you, Steven.

Re: Update.
Steven-
I am so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. You are the first person that I have read on here that has been put or attempted to be put on Lexapro. I am currently taking 10 mgs and cannot get out of the depression that I am now in. The irony behind that is I am being treated for Anxiety, not depression. My personal life is being affected by this GREATLY! Any words of advise?

Re: Update.
I meant advice.
Also, what supplements are people taking that have helped them? Thanks

Re: Update.
Steven, good for you to stay away from SSRI's. Docs might not get why we'd rather be put on anything but an SSRI. I've explained to my psych doc just that. She really seems to get it finally. My therapy has been helping most of all for my anxiety and panic attacks. I'm not sure if you have a therapist, but if you find the right one, it can really make a tremendous difference.

Re: Update.
Dear ones I believe it is a fact that medications for any mental disorder does not treat the problem but only the symptoms.
I dont advise anyone to take nothing without researching the drug first and any negativity should raise a red flag.1% percent poision in 99% percent water will still kill you.{Hint}. Doctors do not want to prescribe nothing like valium for anxiety nor lortabs for pain because they are addictive but guess what? They should not prescribe SSRI`s either because they are addictive as well and very harmful to your brain in the long run. Since my withdrawls from paxil ceased I do feel alive again and am thankful I was able to cry at my dear mothers funeral because the paxil was not in my system to rob me of my emotions. Since 12/28/2005 I have been paxil free and have lost almost 40 of the 65 pounds I gained while on the paxil poision. Thank you all for your support. Steven.

Re: Update.
Steven, my condolences on your Mom's passing.
Please realize that your rapid weaning schedule is probably the cause of the continuing anxiety. You have read enough here to know that withdrawal doesn't end with the wean. And the rapid wean that you did can make this even worse. I congratulate on not jumping to another ssri. This is still withdrawal.

I have to comment on your reference to Neurontin!! My experience with Neurontin was horrific. The doctor was experimenting with off-label use on me, and finally maxed me out at highest allowed dosage. I am lucky I survived it, and the list of permanent damage it left behind is lengthy. Suffice to say--STAY AWAY FROM IT!!!!!--Worse than Paxil, worse than anything I have ever encountered. My prayers and hopes are with you. H |

Re: Update.
Steve, I'm so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. My mother was my best friend, also. I sure wish she were here today to help me through this mess.
Stay extra close to your family and friends now. The first year after my mother died, I would call my aunts (her four sisters) often because they were so much like her, adn talking to them made me feel close to her. They were really sweet to me during that period. You will always miss her, but time does ease the pain. God bless you. As for the Neurontin, you were wise to refuse it. A doctor offered it to me a few years ago when I was having one of my bouts of severe sciatica caused by my lumbar disk problems (like I'm having right now Hang in there buddy.

Re: Update.
Oh Steven, I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. Sounds like you are at peace with it.
Even though your withdrawal has been nothing like some of the rest of us, you are still in withdrawal. You need something to help with the anxiety right now, books, therapy, etc.... and as time passes in your greving you may need something different. Good Luck Debbie

Re: Update.
Steven, so sorry you lost your mother! But I´m glad you came off Paxil without too much problems and that your emotions were not numbed by it so you can grieve for her and then get on with your life. Your anxiety may be partly withdrawal but what could be more natural than feeling anxious when you´ve just lost your mother whom you were very close to? Time will heal both grief and withdrawal and you´ll find ways to cope with or just accept your moments of anxiety.
Also glad you refused the Lexapro. I found out the other day that an old friend of mine has been on it for a few months, it has already lost it´s effect and she has now doubleld the dose. Where will that end? In hell sooner or later. Stay off all psycho drugs, they bring nothing but misery and illness in the long run. All the best to you!

Severe and prolonged WD problem with a long list of symptoms. Considerable mental but very little physical improvement so far. Last Zoloft dose April 18 2004. |
