Re: How long does this last?

It can last a few weeks, I'm afraid. Take some Immodium if it's really bad.

Re: How long does this last?

It seems to last forever with me. Iv'e been on Paxil a little over 6yrs this is a constant problem. I cant blame it all on Paxil though. When I was 16 I had a surgery some of my intestine was removed. Paxil does't help, it makes the diarrhea worst. Sorry if I'm sharing too much info.

Re: How long does this last?

To answer your question.... it's very individual. For some it might be of a shorter period than others. It's the serotonin in the gut that is affected by weaning and withdrawl of an AD. I wasn't that fortunate to be affected only by a few weeks in withdrawl .... months on end it was.

Oh. thanks. Didn't know that. But then.... on Zoloft..... my my. The pdoc said to take Immodium. After 6 months had enough of it and was switched to another AD. So sometimes, it might last longer... it's so individual..

Re: How long does this last?

Kim, does the magnesium help with this, or make it worse? I just started on 200 mg of magnesium a couple of evenings ago. No problems yet, but I think I remember reading that it can upset the stomach and to increase the dosage gradually. Yes?

Re: How long does this last?

On second thought, I've had this problem (the one we were originally discussing here) more or less daily since starting Paxil in 2005. It's gotten better, though, the farther I get from that last dose. I sure don't want to make it worse with supplements.

So, magnesium is supposed to help with anxiety, yet anxiety causes upset stomach, as can magnesium.

Oh, well. I guess that's not any weirder than finding out that a drug that's supposed to make you feel better actually makes you feel like hell.

Re: How long does this last?

xrumer, my pharmacist recommended Immodium, as well as acidophilus. I will say personally that BOTH have made a huge difference to me. Magnesium should be taken in small doses and then moved up, but the major side effect IS..... diarrhea!

Hope you're thinking clearly about what you're doing to your body, and what it thinks about it. First the sexual side effects, and now this...? Is this still what you want? Is it worth it?

Re: How long does this last?

Terra said it! Magnesium can cause diarrhea, so I just thought I would make sure x wasn't taking that, too. Some people have constant problems with that when dealing with paxil and/or withdrawal. Others get constipated. There just seems to be no rhyme nor reason to it.

Re: How long does this last?

ok ok all the answers to your questions.... lol I was taking magnesium, however its been about 5 day to a week since the last time i took it. I have never had it this much though... maybe i'm just not use to it, so it concerns me. (but everything concerns me, obviously why im on paxil lol) More than likely a side effect...
