really low post paxil

ive been off for a month.
i thought the weight loss from paxil ws going well, but it was more the surface i put the scales on....it sounds stupid , but from thinking lost 6lb to finding out i havent lost a thing is crushing.
when i think what ive been through in the last month and the hours at the gym....ive hit bottom.
my wife is not helping me by being encouraging and motivating me. it is mostly when i motivate her to motivate me. which really misses the point. and sometimes like right now, i need a push.
im tired of being at war with my mind, with my body with my partner. i just want peace, i want it all to end.

Stop fighting it and try to let it happen. Even a change on the surface is good. It takes a bit for the weight to actually drop off because it takes a bit for the drug that's stored in the fat to come out. You are doing the right things and it will happen. Concentrate on keeping yourself comfortable and destressed as much as possible. The rest will come. (Stress tends to keep that dang cortisol fat on the body.)

Re: really low post paxil

m- i've been told this a million times; fat weighs less that muscle-maybe you are actually toning, even loosing inches but not weight yet. try to be patient and pat yourself on the back that you are making the effort to get into shape. sometimes i think our self talk is critical in how we feel. IF you hate your body that's pretty hostile self talk. you want peace/harmony that is different from wanting it all to end. Love yourself, try to change your self talk and attitude about the process- is the gym enjoyable or punishing? if you punish your body for being out of shape it's pretty hard to stay motivated. talk to yourself like your own best friend and see how that feels.
BUT i think your doing great, i couldn't maintain that much effort a week. WAY TO GO m, keep it up!

You don't need a push!!! Pushing only makes it worse. Don't fixate on the weight loss.. that will happen, but it's going to take time. NONE of this goes away just because you want it to. Paxil has altered your neurotransmitters, hormones, cortisol, fat levels, and a multitude of other areas in the body. These will correct, but in due time.

The peace that you're searching for is in you.. just breath!!!!

It took a few months before I lost any weight after quitting. I ate much better and exercised 5-6 days a week, but the weight came off so slowly for me, so I know how frustrating it can be not to see results. Please keep trying and have faith your efforts will be rewarded.

A good aside (im trying to focus on any good parts in this whole thing) is that when i was on the rowing machine...about 5000m into it (25min) the body's endorphins kicked in.
Post paxil my feeling are becoming less numb and this way overwhelming. I just started laughing. i had to slow and row light for a min or so as i was laughing so hard i thought i would fall off.

Re: really low post paxil

I agree that you can't focus on the weight and just focus on your life. Make the changes in your life that you need to be happy. Make good choices of the food you put into your body. From there it will happen.

I also agree that if you are working out on a regular basis, you are not going to notice the number on the scale dropping as quickly because you are building muscle, but you sure will notice a difference in how your clothes fit and definately will notice how much better you feel!

Keep at it!

Re: really low post paxil

I hope this is not offensive but i would focus on the withdrawal at this time and worry about the weight later. Dieting is really frustrating and discouraging when your 100%. Withdrawal is exhausting. Some days are ups and some days are downs. For me dieting only triggers the highs and lows. We want the weight to come off quickly as we want the withdrawal over quickly. Neither works that way. Exercise as tolerated, try to keep moving. But forgive yourself. Also I have noticed I eat alot less now that I'm off Paxil. Good luck.
