class action lawsuit?

Is there a class action lawsuit out there somewhere for those of us who started taking Paxil before the warnings came out?

Re: class action lawsuit?

Scotia, I have no clue about any class actions in Scotland. Try googling, paxil withdrawal, class action and see what comes up.

Re: class action lawsuit?

Don't go class action. I'm speaking from experience. Find a lawyer who will handle your case individually. If you can't find one, then maybe go class action. A lot of people got shafted on the last one which no one is supposed to talk about because of the gag order.

Put on Paxil in 1996 for Post-partum depression. After 5th withdrawal attempt, went into severe debilitating withdrawal, restarted Paxil in the ER which didn't work anymore. Taken off again quickly by a shrink, started on Lexapro. Body rejected all drugs except benzos. Currently off all drugs. Not quite 100% yet, but working towards getting there.

Re: class action lawsuit?

It's trickier these days mouse, the class action settlement amounts are small, and the lawyers have only taken on a few strong cases with adults. Not only that, but GSK feels they have the right to ask you who you 'know', how you know them, and if you have met in person.... like holy ****!! Then they put a gag on the people or they don't pay up. They actually 'do' check if people are talking, that is something people should keep in mind if they signed a gag.

These gag orders need to stop, they have no right. If they owe someone... they owe someone! They should have no right in questioning who one knows, saying who, what, when and 'where' a person can or cannot say something. They get away with this because people need the $ to pick up the pieces in their lives.... makes one wonder, how can their legal team do this on a daily basis and listen to all the suffering out there!

I dont understand how they think they have the right to ask people questions about "who they know" ? .. What relevance has this to a withdrawal case where a drug company has suppressed data, decieved the comsumer and caused immeasureable suffering to thousands of people?...

Re: class action lawsuit?

Exactly!! But that is what is taking place... and the questions go much deeper than "who you know". It was more like "how often do you talk to who you know? How did you meet them? What do you discuss? In person, on phone or via internet?...... roflmao

Re: class action lawsuit?

I have thought about a lawsuit myself, but was turned down by a lawyer who refused to take my case. I was put on 40 ridiculous mg at the age of 16!!! (after 4 yrs of horrible side effects of nortryptiline) within weeks i began cutting myself and feeling totally out of control. I was having seizures as well and was put on depakote. The seizures subsided and the suicidal tendencies dulled. However, I was sooooo tired the dr. gave me dexedrin to keep me awake during the day. I was "high" on drugs for years before I took myself off depakote and dexedrin and reduced paxil. I am still enraged...someone needs to be held accountable for the permanent alterations in my brain!!!!

Re: class action lawsuit?

I was told that basically, if I didn't kill myself or seriously attempted to kill myself I didn't have a case.

The parallels between Paxil and tobacco are scary. GSK knew about the difficulties of getting off the drug before releasing it to the public, and yet said nothing, because if we can't get off the drug we'll be lifetime customers - just like nicotine. I've quit smoking and Paxil and Paxil was 1000 times worse. Quitting smoking was tough, but at least there are patches and gum that can help. I have been through nothing like this.

I'm sure GSK has a whole department of people who are paid to monitor sites like this one to see what we're saying about them. If you're reading this, F*** YOU AND F*** YOUR COMPANY!!! You almost - ALMOST - destroyed me. But I will not allow you to do it anymore.

They've got "spy" software as well to monitor the internet. Look: http://www.paxilprogress.org/forums/...&highlight=spy

Re: class action lawsuit?

This is much worse than tobacco, I was able to quit smoking, but quitting Paxil is hell on earth.
Putting somebody on this poison at the age of 16 should be a crime. There is a black box warning out now, so you if you found the right lawyer, you would have a good case. Don't give up because one lawyer said no.
I won't be surprised if some troll comes along now to see if they take me down. LOL

When the class action was settled, the settlement offered to the victims was a joke. It was a take it or leave it situation. On top of that, there was a gag order. Lots of hype going into the lawsuit, then suddenly there was silence.
