My story
During the summer I had a mild heart attack and was sent by ambulance to the hospital. Once there, the tests proved negative to a heart attack. I had enormous pressure in my chest and had collapsed twice before I told my wife to phone 911. The doctor said it was anxiety and prescribed Paxil. My life has changed ever since. I am also taking Altace for my high blood pressure which helps prevent heart attacks. Hell, I sure had a rude awakening when I tried to stop cold turkey. Confusion, hallucinations, ZAPS, did I mention ZAPS?, and many other weird symptoms. I thought I was dying to say the least. Over time I began drinking more and more and have started college for Web Design. This is proving difficult as I forget too easily and have more social fears that I never had before. I had to drop 3 classes because of an old injury and because of fear of failure. I tried many times to quit cold turkey with the same problems every time. If I forget to take it, I can't function properly, never mind driving and socializing. The thing is that I never had problems before taking this medication. I need out so that I can go on with my life. This drug should be banned, but not until everyone is weaned off. Thanks for reading.

Re: My story
Ninja, cold turkey is not going to work... which you have found out. Weaning slowly is the way to get free of Paxil.

Re: My story
ninja..welcome to PaxilProgress..the best dam paxil tapering website..so much information from so many wonderful wonderful people...
WE need to know what dose yuo are on...it si amaizing how this pill is nonadicitve (he said sarcastically)..thats what my doctor told me, and no problems getting off of it, no side affects..the lying jerk...... Have you been doing any therapy along with the paxhell..coping skills are what is requried..the drug jsut masks the anxiety, it literallyblocks us from feeling what is really there..so to live med free..we need to educate ourselves again on how to live med free..how to acknowledge the triggers of our anixety and what to do when anxiety rings the door bell..this, in my opinion is the key to lliving beyond paxhell... So, ask away, rant, rage, vent...we all do it..this is the ebst place to do it..like this... GSK..you stupid lieing sons of the devil Bealsabob himself..how dare you lie to the FDA..how dare you, lie to my doctor..how dare you take 14 yrs off of my life..in which I divorced and subsequently lost both of my kids..your day will come you will be judged..you #@@#$*#$%#$&!!! There I feel a bit better...

Re: My story
Totally agree!!! How long have you been on Paxil? Since summer? You've tried to quit cold turkey many times? Sorry had a little trouble following you. I know it's hard but if I reading right you've only been on Paxil 6 months or so. Do not cold turkey the stuff. You should gradually wean off. Start now before you get more entwined in the Paxil web. Good luck

Re: My story
Its been since summer. Most times it wasnt trying to quit exactly as forgetting on purpose. I had no idea that paxhell was that hard to get off of. I would never have taken it if the doctor had said that it would be a long nasty road to kick it. I never had anxiety before taking it and do now. Thanks for the help and will continue to read all I can on here to prepare my body and mind for the hell ride. I saw the list of side effects on the sticky area and holy****!! Thats worse than the problem itself. At first I thought that you can just quit like most other meds. I am worried about getting some nasty side effects from weaning like the hallucinations and confusion and the ZAPS! I have to drive 30 min. to school everyday and don't want to cause an accident. On the other hand, it affects my studies and makes me cold to people. I will succeed, I just need some careful planning. I am sure that these forums will help me through. One question: are most of you off paxhell or are you a mix of the addicts (lol) and weaners?
this head reminds me of the pain of the electric currents that ran through me when I miss doses. ![]() |

Re: My story
Those on this board are in all stages of withdrawal, and some who are still contemplating getting off paxil. AND there are some who are successfully off and stay around to give support. Read, learn, and know that will not have to go this alone... we're here!!!

Re: My story
Some on here are on the meds, some are weaning, some are completely off. And the problems this medicine causes CAN definitely be worse than what you started with. Read all you can, and ask questions if you have them. The search function is very helpful if you have specific questions, like supplements, weaning schedules, cold turkey, side effects - type em in and see what you get.
Welcome to the site!

Re: My story
yeah..I took it for anxiety and panic..but the drug covers or coats so many other areas like anger and rage..it is like the pill got into my body..looking for things it could do, saw the anxiety and panic and covered it in a layer of goo..when it noticed I did not have rage, anger, no loss of libidio...it was if the drug thought it was on a delivery and left these symptoms behind..thanks a heelluva lot GSK..you shcmuck heads...
