24/7 nervous feeling

Hello and Happy New Year to my friends at PaxilProgress. I'm writing today to vent about this nervous feeling I have in my stomach all the time. Literally all the time, I wake up in the middle of the night and it's still there. It's like butterflies only worse and I'm very shaky and I have no appetite. I'm losing more weight because of this and I think I am too skinny now. I need to put on a little weight but eating makes me sick and exercising is the only time I feel better because I'm able to expel this nervous energy. I don't know why I am having it. Withdrawal? Or am I nervous because in just a few short weeks I am quitting completely? Does anyone else have this?

Re: 24/7 nervous feeling

I have had that in withdrawal. For me, I can nearly always trace the feeling back to an inciting incident. The weird thing is that it is nearly always rooted in something bizarre that should not make me feel anxious. Knowing what 'caused' it helps me to mentally dismiss the feeling. Unfortunately, it will creep back in over and over again for a while; each time I have to remember that it was something stupid that started it so I could go on with my day. Eventually, it just went away on its own.

Hi Katie
Hope your holidays were great! How long have you had this nervous feeling?

It could be any or all of the things you mentioned or it could be your body telling you it's had enough paxil and it's time to move on.

Re: 24/7 nervous feeling

The nervousness is probably because you aren't eating and therefor your blood sugar levels are low.

It is very important to eat healthy and maintain a constant blood sugar level especially during withdrawal.

Perhaps you should see your doctor to find out why you aren't eating. This is pretty serious.

Re: 24/7 nervous feeling

There are some preparations from the health food shop that can help stimulate appetite - wormwood tea being one of them. Julie has a point that eating well is important, have you had problems with eating in the past? Our brain needs a good diet to function properly, and when we are in w/d our brains need all the support they can get.

Having said all that, I too have a constant nervous/anxiety feeling at the moment, from w/d I believe, I am trying to stabilise. This feeling keeps waking me up early in the mornings and I find it hard to get back to sleep.

Re: 24/7 nervous feeling

Eating and drinking...get some electrolytes back into yuor ssytem...you can buy this at the drug store...get some crackers...soup..toast...you have to eat..period!!!

If not it would be like putting Mario Andretti in a race car with 1 cup of gas and tell him to go out and win the Indy 500...

Until yuo get some semblacne of protein into your system..it would be impossible to tell what is cuased by the meds..what is cuased y withdrawal...what is caused by hunger....

Re: 24/7 nervous feeling

I know the reason for not eating much is the nervousness. Whenever I am very nervous I have zero appetite. And I'm sure not eating makes me more nervous so it's a vicious cycle. I am forcing myself to eat everyday, so I'm not starving to death or anything. Just not eating like I used to. Scott, I am at .6 mg (approximately). I will be done very soon!

Re: 24/7 nervous feeling

the best way i can describe my feelings when they happened was an intense feeling of stage fright or the anticipation of it.. or anything you can think of that would give you anxiety like that.

Re: 24/7 nervous feeling

I think this is part of your withdrawal and it will come and go as your healing progresses. I lose my appetite when I'm really nervous, too. One thing you can do is drink Slimfast or Ensure in the morning to get some protein and vitamins. That's what I did when nothing appealed to me. My appetite ultimately returned with a vengeance .. now I'm having to watch what I eat again.

Re: 24/7 nervous feeling

I had that terrible nervous feeling 24/7 as well. This is withdrawal. Since you have done such a slow taper, perhaps it won't last long. I KNOW how miserable it makes you feel. I'm sorry that I don't have any good suggestions. When I was at the peak of that feeling I was taking fish oil, magnesium, walking, etc. I continued to have the anxiety even with all of that. I too didn't eat much and lost weight. I would have oatmeal for breakfast which helped keep my stomach calm. Sometimes for lunch I would have a peanut butter sandwich because it's the only thing that sounded good to me. I would drink the slimfasts sometimes too. I came to the PP board a lot and also did some EFT. I found it to be very helpful to do right when I got up in the morning and if I started feeling that way at work I could go to the restroom and do the EFT. I thought it was helpful.

Hang in there and feel free to PM me. There were several here that I PM'd when my anxiety was at it's worse and it was helpful to have that connection. Talking to someone who understood and had been there helped me a lot.
