Frontline treatmetn for anxiety: Effexor

A doctor said this to me today. I went to see her because I suspect pre menopause (symptoms: insomnia, hair loss, cycle changes, mood swings, etc.)- but test came back normal - diagnosis was stress. I told her that I was working meditation, relaxation tapes etc, and she said that drugs like Effexor were the preferred frontline treatment for anxiety. I told her that i preferred natural drug free methods and would only take another drug if I was totally incapacitated. Surprisingly, she new about the difficulties with paxil but had no problem recommending a similar drug.

...that is because doctors have always been the ones that we depend on for the ultimate answers, which we now know better of...so, a doctor can not, in their good consients (man I wish I could spell that)...a docotr has to have an answer..even if it means their answer is more medicine..it is what we have made them into being...make sense?

I think it's easier for doctors to prescribe this crap, because the majority of them don't take it. So, who cares? It doesn't matter to them how bad we're suffering, not their problem!

Is it any wonder we are becoming a nation (or world) of medicated zombies? Doctors have become nothing but pill-pushers. I just get so mad when I hear stuff like this.

Did your doc mention that Effexor has a 78% withdrawal rate, higher than Paxil?
