Attorneys handling these PI cases?

Hi Everyone,
Thank you all for your support in the past. You helped me get off Paxil and I have now been off for 6 months; I did not realize that until I signed on here for the first time in a couple months. I still have to take xanax (.5mg) every night to be able to sleep though unfortunately. I now work for a Personal Injury law firm and take incoming calls for potential cases and submit my reports to one of our attorney to decide if we will accept the case or not. Very interesting and I have gotten several phone calls from people wanting to sue drug manufacturers regarding withdrawal from anti-depressants. One woman I spoke with yesterday slit both her wrists 3 weeks after quitting Effexor. Unfortunately our firm does not specialize in these types of cases. Does anyone out there know of law firms that are brave enough to take on these cases?? I would really like to be able to steer people to attorneys who can help them.

Prescribed Paxil 40 mg over 7 years ago for panic attacks & mild depression.
AFTER 6 YEARS OF PAXIL I HAD CLINICAL DEPRESSION & DID NOT CARE IF I LIVED OR DIED!
Tried quitting Paxil before without success & went back on 20 mg
Found Paxil Progress and started Tapering
Tapered by reducing dosage by 5 mg every 3 weeks
Slower at end -3 or 4 mg, then smallest possible sliver (1 or 2 mg) due to PAXHELL!
8/3/06 OFF PAXIL COMPLETELY
2/07 Still can't kick the xanax (.5mg) at night or no sleep

Re: Attorneys handling these PI cases?

Baum Hedlund is the big one who does. I'm sure Laurie might know of others.

Google 'paxil lawyers'... you'll be amazed at how many come up. Check the lawyers websites to see the extend of their practice in this area.

Hey, join the club. I'm 28 months post-Paxil and a good night's sleep is rare.

Re: Attorneys handling these PI cases?

Bern, I hate to discourage you, but all of the lawyers that I know will not take on anyone on multiple meds. It's hard enough to get anywhere with just one ssri...to add other drugs it's impossible to separate out the cause.

I knew that there would be a hurdle somewhere. Thanks anyway.

Re: Attorneys handling these PI cases?

You might be able to sue a doc who is overprescribing for malpractice.

Re: Attorneys handling these PI cases?

Hello,

A google search for Paxil lawyers will turn up a whole list. I ended up signing up with one (the zehl law firm) just recently because my son was born with congenital heart problems and pulmonary hypertension. At first, I thought that it was just something that he happened to be born with, but then I saw a tv add saying that the FDA found a link between Paxil and infant heart and lung defects when taken during pregnancy.

I'm writing this not only to share my experience, but so that people understand how dangerous Paxil can be. I truly hope that none of you have to go through this.

Karen Menzies, at Baum Hedlund, has plenty of experience in this area:

Perhaps the most celebrated lawyer in this area is Andy Vickery, at Vickery Waldner & Mallia, who tried the Schell cases:

I wouldn't be surprised if one or the other would refer you to somebody, if they're not convenient to where you are.
