can't go on

I just want to die. I don't know if it is because I went down to 1 mg or just having a bad day but I am so tired....of fighting. I have tried so hard, I just don't know if I can do it any more. I don't know that things will ever be better. Everyone makes choices in life. Can I live with mine?

Re: can't go on

I don't know how fast you've tapered -- it helps to put your history in your signature -- but you may be suffering from weaning too fast.

Can you get liquid Paxil? You might be able to go up a half-milligram or milligram and taper slower by tiny decrements.

Re: can't go on

I was on a very small dosage of 5 mg for many years. Went to 2.5 mg for 3 weeks and 1 mg for 1 week now. I don't think I have tapered too fast as I am not suffering from any other symptoms. Perhaps it is just me....

Re: can't go on

Some people are extremely sensitive to ANY drop in dosage.

It seems that perhaps you are one of them -- you were sensitive enough to be okay with a dose of 5mg (Paxil??).

For people who are sensitive, even a drop of 1mg is a big drop. Please consider backing up your taper and going slower.

By the way, I was taking 10mg, tapered over a few weeks, and have had discontinuation syndrome for more than 2 years. I was one of those people who should have tapered a lot slower.

Re: can't go on

I just want to be off paxil. I have suffered for so long, I don't want to go back, I can't. It has taken so much from my life that I didn't even realize until recently. I am so mad at the doctors for not informing me of the side effects of this drug, not even trying to get me off it. Laughing at me for the small dosage I was on. It has already taken too much from me to go back.

Re: can't go on

It will get better, it really will. But it will take time. Come here as often as you can for support because it can and will get you through. There were times I was curled in a ball with anxiety and depression and the people here kept me going little by little. I found some people who PM'd me when I really needed help. They got me through. I learned that fighting it made it worse than just surrendering to it. Not giving up, just realizing that I had to go through it to get to the other side I was desiring and I made it. You will too. Let everyone here help you.

Re: can't go on

I know of a couple of people who also were at a very low dose, one as low as 2 mg, for a long time and they had to taper by smaller increments for longer periods of time. I know it doesn't seem logical, but your taper is very, very fast. That's even faster than the recommended average taper.

This is why you are feeling the way you are feeling. You will be off of this drug, but it is best to do it slower so that you give your brain time to adjust. If you can get liquid paxil you can go up to around 2 or even 2.5 and remain there for awhile until you feel stable. Then go much slower and stay at a level for longer. I can't remember exactly the forumula at this stage, but someone will.

Re: can't go on

Consider that dropping from 5 mg to 2.5 mg was a 50% drop, and from 2.5 mg to 1 mg was even greater than that.

I am down to 1.2 mg dosage, and am decreasing by 0.2 mg (which equals 0.1 ml of the liquid Paxhell) at a time, and I can still feel the drops. About three days after the decrease I am very tearful, hopeless and depressed for a couple of days.

Wanttobefree, remember that slow and steady wins the race.

Re: can't go on

Thank you everyone for your advise and kind words. I don't seem to have any other sysmptoms at this point and I don't know if I am able to get the liquid paxil. I have been told it isn't available in Canada by some and others say it is a special perscription. Perhaps I will call me doctor again. Since I have no other symptoms I wonder if I can try just stay with this level and see how it goes from here.
