Do I Need To Go Back to my Psych to get refill of Prozac???
I've been seeing this psychiatrist for years, basically just for medication management. He has tried weaning me off these pills HIS way which obviously never worked - and gave me the usual speech of "guess you'll have to be on these for the rest of your life". Whatever....
Anyway, he is NOT in my insurance plan so it costs me a fortune to see him - can I just go to a regular doc to see if I can get a refill of this while I'm weaning? Maybe if I explain the weaning part? (And no, I don't really have a regular doctor I see - just an HMO place in my town in case I ever get sick, so it's not like I know a doctor who knows my history or anything) T |

It would be nice to have their support but sadly, that usually doesn't happen. As long as you get the drugs presribed correctly, that is all that matters. If you don't want to see the psychiatrist, the other option is to call the HMO Patient rep and explain your situation. See if he/she can recommend a doctor to go see. When I had an HMO several years ago, this strategy worked wonders for me. But I realize if the patient rep isn't any good, you are wasting your time. It doesn't matter who you see as long as the provider is authorized to prescribe meds. Palm |
