eye question

Kind of a silly question. Since I've been on Paxil I haven't been able to wear contacts. I wondered if this was because of Paxil and if anyone else noticed this. Whenever I tried to wear my contacts it felt like a big chunk of glass in my eye. I thought maybe since I was off Paxil I would try again.
Thanks all, Wes

Re: eye question

I don't wear contacts but after withdrawing from Paxil, my vision is screwed. My prescription I got a year ago is no longer effective. Made my vision much, much worse. Stupid poison!! I wouldn't doubt it if it does something to your eyeball or maybe the nerve endings in your eyelid that make wearing contacts uncomfortable (I don't think eyeballs have nerve endings, do they???). Good question. I hope someone else comes along to answer you better.

Re: eye question

Does the contact feel that way in both eyes? Or could it actually be something wrong with the contact lens? Are they soft lenses or gas permeables? If they are soft disposables, have you tried another pair? If they are gas perms, maybe you should have your eye doctor take a look at the lenses.

Paxhell and WD both cause vision changes, I'm convinced, but this sounds like maybe something else to me.

Re: eye question

Sounds like a dry eye issue. This can be hormonal (withdrawal really messes with the hormones). It should resolve itself if you're willing to be patient. My mom is on flax seed oil for the opposite problem, watery eyes. Perhaps there is a supplement you could try?

Re: eye question

I agree with Kim. Paxil does cause dry mouth, it probably can cause dry eyes and other dry things as well. I didn't have any vision issues, but I would think others might have experienced this.

Re: eye question

Six of one - half a dozen of another. With paxil one can never be sure of anything. I have had problems with my eyes a a result of paxil. Get your contacts and eyes checked again, but paxil does cause problems.

Re: eye question

i was going to say the same thing too..since paxil makes your mouth dry..it makes sense that it would make your eyes dry too!!..especially when you have to wear contacts ect..

Re: eye question

Thanks everyone I think I'll try the contacts again since I'm finally off Paxil. 2 months now btw. Maybe the contacts will work better now. I really hate wearing glasses.
Thanks again, Wes
